The HR10 features the Canon designed and manufactured CMOS image sensor. Just as the CMOS image sensors in Canon's EOS Series Digital SLR cameras result in outstanding digital photographs, the CMOS sensor in the HR10 reproduces high-resolution images at 1920x1080 resolution with full HD information in video images.
You will see brilliant results in the video you shoot thanks to the HR10's CMOS's high color resolution and advanced color reproduction. The CMOS sensor has many advantages over a CCD, including:

Crisper, shaper images are also delivered thanks to industry-leading noise reduction capability as seen in Canon's proprietary On Chip Noise Reduction Technology. Finally, the RGB Primary Color Filter in the HR10, by separating light into red, green and blue color components, gives more vibrant images with deep, rich, accurate colors and natural-looking tones similar to what you'd obtain from 3CCD camcorders.
