Selective Noise Reduction is a new addition on the XL H1S. This feature enables you to apply Noise Reduction (NR) to targeted color areas. For instance, when you need to enhance the definition of subjects against blue and green areas while using chroma key, they can be specifically targeted. Or, at times when the background cannot be sufficiently lit, the signal-to-noise ratio of specific areas of the background can be improved to increase contrast.

Sharing of XL H1S Custom Preset files with additional Canon XL H1S camcorders, as well as Canon XL H1A, and XH G1 camcorders (XL H1 files may be shared with XL H1S, but XL H1 cannot read XL H1S files)
