 General FAQ

I cannot install the Viewer for PC.
  • First, check if the Viewer for PC was downloaded completely by comparing the name and size of the downloaded file (File Name: webview_viewer_pc_3-3.exe, File Size: 2.25 MB)
  • For reference, the complete procedure for downloading and installing the viewer is available on the viewer's "Download" page.
When launching the Viewer for PC from the Start menu, what should I input for the host name?
The host names can vary. For ease of use, simply visit a webcam site from our list of webcams and click on the "Using Viewer for PC" button. The Viewer for PC will launch and automatically set your host name, allowing you to view live video.

Although the Viewer for PC is already installed, a ".wvh" file is always downloaded when I click the "Using Viewer for PC" button to view live video. Why?
If you are using the Microsoft Internet Explorer, the File Download dialog box will appear when you click the "Using Helper" button to view live video. When the dialog box appears, please follow the procedure below:
  • Tick the "Run this program from its current location" check box.
  • Clear the "Always ask before opening this type of file" check box.
  • Click the "OK" button.
The Viewer for PC will run automatically the next time it is launched.

Why can't I view video?
  • Make sure your computer's operating system is compatible with the PC viewer.
  • Depending on the type of Web browser you are using, you may have to change the browser settings. Check the environment settings such as starting protocol, performance, HTTP protocol and display option to suit your usage environment.
  • The webcam server you are trying to access may be down. Try visiting other camera sites.
When I click the panorama button, a gray window appears but no video is displayed.
The panorama window is only available when a panorama picture has been registered on the camera server. When the panorama picture is not registered, the gray window appears.

Why aren't the camera presets and selection functions available?
Camera presets and other functions are only available if enabled on the camera server.

Is the viewer free?
Yes.

Does the PC viewer have a still-picture recording function?
No. Still-picture recording is only available with Canon's VB-C10/VB-C10R and VB101 products.
