Use the Viewer for Java when you wish to access a webcam for the first time. For frequent video viewing, however, we recommended you install the Viewer for PC.
- This free viewer allows you to view a webcam on any computer with a Web browser running Java, regardless of the platform.
- Please note, since the Java applet is downloaded when the viewer starts up, the first video will take longer to appear. There is no need to pre-install the viewer, however, on your computer.
- To optimize performance, you may need to alter the browser settings.
- Because an HTTP protocol is used, the Viewer for Java is capable of bypassing network firewalls (a firewall is a method for keeping a network secure from unauthorized access). Keep in mind, however, the viewer may not run smoothly on some platforms or browser types that are behind a firewall.
- The Viewer for Java provides two types of viewers: LiveApplet containing video display and camera control functions, and Glimpse, containing only a video display function:

LiveApplet
Video display and camera control functions

|

|
Glimpse
Video display functions only
