CONTESTANT ELIGIBILITY The Contest is sponsored by Canon U.S.A., Inc. (Canon USA) (the Sponsor). The Contest is open to any U.S. resident over 21 years of age who is not a "professional photographer," that is, one who has not earned 51% or more of his or her annual income by taking, selling or marketing photographs, whether as an employee or a freelance photographer, during the last three (3) years (the Contestant). Employees and relatives of the Sponsor, American Park Media, Photoworkshop.com, and each of their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies, and professional photographers are not eligible. Void where prohibited. No purchase or entry fees required. Subject to all federal, state and local laws.
ENTERING THE CONTEST/ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PHOTOS/WAIVERS AND RELEASES The Contest will commence on June 1, 2006 at 12am Eastern Time (ET) and end on September 30, 2006 11:59pm ET (the Contest Period). The Contestant must submit an "Official Entry Form" titled "Official Online Entry Form" or "Official Mail-In Entry Form", depending on whether the Contestant enters online or by U.S. mail (each, a Form), together with a qualifying photograph (each, an Entry, collectively, the Entries) taken by him or her, using a digital or film camera in one of the following two categories:
(1) Landscape or
(2) Wildlife, taken in any U.S. National Park or National Monument. All State parks are excluded. You may enter the Contest in either of the following ways:
(i) online by visiting www.photoworkshop.com/canon/contest/index.html (the Canon Digital Learning Center Website) and completing the Form by providing your name, complete address, daytime phone number and valid e-mail address and attaching a qualifying Entry (limit one Entry per person per category and per e-mail address during the Contest Period); OR (ii) hand printing your name, complete address and daytime phone number on a Form, enclosing the digital file meeting the requirements of the Rules and send to: Canon National Park Photo Contest, c/o Photoworkshop.com, 11111 Santa Monica Blvd #1080, Los Angeles, CA 90025. You may enter by U.S. mail (limit one Entry per person per category per address) but all Entries must be postmarked by September 30, 2006 and received by October 7, 2006. If an Entrant uses multiple addresses (e-mail or otherwise) to submit more than one Entry per category, only the first Entry received by Sponsor per category will count. SUBMISSIONS WITHOUT THE APPLICABLE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED. If you need additional mail-in Entry Forms, you may make a printout or photocopy of that Form available on the Canon Digital Learning Center Website or call 1-866-612-0783 from 9am Eastern Time (ET) to 5pm ET during the Contest Period for additional mail-in Entry Forms. Winners will be notified by mail and posted on the Canon Digital Learning Center Website on or around November 21, 2006. To obtain a list of the winners, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the above address or visit www.photoworkshop.com/canon/nationalparks/winners.htm.
Entries that have been previously published or won a prize in any other contest are ineligible. Entries cannot include representations of any person unless he or she has executed a release acceptable to the Sponsor. It is the responsibility of the entrant to secure the release and present it to the Sponsor upon request. Any Entry with names, logos or other indicia that may be owned or controlled by a third party is ineligible (such third party indicia must be removed prior to submission). In addition, montages and composite images are ineligible. The Entry must be from a single capture with any digital or film camera. If cruel, unethical or illegal practices are suspected, the photo will be disqualified.
Photos must be captured with either a digital camera or scanned from a film slide, negative or print and submitted in the baseline JPEG recording format. (RAW files must be converted to baseline JPEG prior to submission.) Prints or slides are ineligible. Please resize your submission to dimensions no greater than 900 pixels in width and 600 pixels in depth. File sizes must be limited to no more than 500 KB per image (compressed size). All files should be named in the following format and must not include spaces or unusual characters, such as apostrophes, quotes, etc.: filename.jpg.

Image files that do not meet the requirements for recording format, image dimensions or file naming will not be accepted. Entries sent via regular mail must follow the same criteria set forth in this section as for Entries submitted via the Internet. Files sent via regular mail must be submitted on CD-ROM only – no compact flash cards, floppy discs, Zip discs or any other media will be accepted. All Entries sent via regular mail must be packaged properly to avoid damage.
Each Entry must include the Contestant’s name, address, valid e-mail address (if applicable) and daytime phone number, camera information, and image information (photo title, location (which national park/national monument) photo was taken, photo caption and camera used). Incomplete, illegible or mutilated Forms and Entries shall be disqualified.
When you enter the Contest on the Canon Digital Learning Center Website, you may be asked to consent to receive promotional e-mails and reminders for upcoming promotions and information from Photoworkshop.com. Consenting to receive such e-mails is optional and does not have to be agreed to in order to be eligible to enter the Contest and does not improve your chances of winning. In the event you do consent to receive these e-mails, the use of such e-mail address shall be subject to the privacy statement found on the Canon Digital Learning Center Website.
No Entries will be returned, and they may be destroyed at the Sponsor’s option.
The Sponsor is not responsible for any incorrect Form or Entry information, technical malfunctions, failures, omission, interruption, deletion or defect of any telephone network, computer online systems, computer equipment, server providers or software including any injury or damage to Contestant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from access to or alteration of Entries, inability to access the Canon Digital Learning Center Website (defined below), Entries that are processed late or incorrectly or are incomplete due to computer or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, printing or human or other errors and any Entries which are lost, late, incomplete, stolen, misplaced, misdirected, mutilated, illegible or postage due or any combination thereof. Proof of mailing, in person submission, or online submission is not considered proof of delivery or receipt.
JUDGING CRITERIA AND WINNER SELECTION/NOTIFICATION
On or about October 20, 2006 the top 10 photos in each category will be selected by a panel of independent, professional photographers who shall rank Entries on the basis of: originality (0-25 points); artistic composition (0-25 points); photographic technique (0-25 points); and technical execution (0-25 points). Once chosen, these top 10 photos (“Top 10”) will be posted on Canon Digital Learning Center Website and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each of the two categories will be selected by Canon Digital Learning Center Website viewers who vote for his or her top choice. One vote per viewer only. Of the two First Place winners, a Grand Prize winner will be selected based on the most votes. Voting will take place from November 1, 2006 through November 7, 2006. Out of the top 10 photos, photos not selected as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be considered as honorable mentions. In the event of a tie, the judges will select Grand Prize winner based on the criteria stated above. Judges’ decisions on all matters relating to the Contest are final.
On or about November 8, 2006, the Grand Prize winner and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be contacted either in person or by overnight courier and phone.
Within 7 days of notification, each potential winner shall submit a signed affidavit of eligibility, release of liability and prize acceptance (the “Affidavit and Release”), and a release executed by each person who appears in the entry (if any), or be disqualified. In the Affidavit and Release, each winner shall give the Sponsor permission, whether directly or indirectly through third-party licensees, to utilize the Entry and make derivative works of the Entry, including the right to reproduce the same, in connection with the reproduction, distribution, public display, publication, republication, and modification of the Entry, whether in whole or in part (including, without limitation, use in connection with any Sponsor promotional material, such as Sponsor’s web sites (including those operated by third parties) in a winners gallery and advertising in connection with future contests), with or without the winner’s name, photo, likeness and biographical information, subject to applicable law, and without the further consent of, or compensation to, the winner and/or any person who appears in the Entry. Entrants must submit image with original resolution when requested. The Affidavit and Release shall also certify the winner’s eligibility and the Entry’s ownership, originality and non-infringement. Subject to the rights granted to Sponsor, each winner retains all copyrights in the Entry. If the Sponsor is unable to contact a potential prize winner(s), if the potential winner(s) fail to complete and return all forms by the specified date or if the potential winner(s) fail to comply with any of the requirements, or if any prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, an alternate winner(s) shall be selected. All Contestants release the Sponsor and its respective agents, advertising and promotion agencies, affiliated companies, Contest partners and prize suppliers, and all of their respective affiliated companies, employees, officers, directors and shareholders, from and against all claims and damages arising in connection with each Contestant's participation and/or entry in the Contest and/or their receipt or use of any prize awarded in this Contest. Any and all warranties and guarantees are subject to the respective manufacturer's terms and conditions. This Contest is governed by U.S. law and is subject to all federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law.
If a prize is not claimed or a winner is disqualified, the next place winner shall be selected according to the procedure described above. All prizes shall be awarded, provided a sufficient number of qualified entries are received.
PRIZES The Grand Prize will include two (2) coach airline tickets (from the major metropolitan airport closest to the Grand Prize winner’s home), one (1) hotel room (double occupancy) for 5 days/ 4 nights and entrance fee to a participating national park* (approx. retail value: $2,500.00). Date of trip is at winner’s discretion, subject to availability Sponsor will attempt to fulfill date preferences, but may not be able to do so. Trip must be booked at least six (6) weeks in advance. Hotel accommodations and air travel subject to availability. Travel must be completed by November 8, 2007. The winning photo will appear in next year’s issue of the American Park Network guides.
Each First Prize will include an EOS 5D body with an EF 24-105mm L IS USM lens, a PIXMA Pro9500 Photo Printer and a one-year membership to Photoworkshop.com (approximate retail value of $5,522.99).
Each Second Prize will include the EOS 30D EF-S 17-85mm IS USM Kit, a PIXMA Pro9500 Photo Printer and a six month membership to Photoworkshop.com (approximate retail value of $2,823.99).
Each Third Prize will include the EOS Digital Rebel XT EF-S 18-55mm Kit, a PIXMA Pro9000 Photo Printer and a six month membership to Photoworkshop.com (approximate retail value of approximately $1,474.98).
Each honorable mention will receive a three month membership to Photoworkshop.com (approximate retail value of approximately $50.00)

Winners may not transfer their prizes or request cash or other substitutions. However, the Sponsor may substitute a prize of equal or greater value at their discretion. Taxes, if any, shall be the responsibility of the individual winners.
Allow six to eight weeks after submitting the Affidavit and Release and other required materials, in compliance with these Rules, for delivery of prizes.
*The grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to any national park with in-park lodging in the lower 48 states. Dates and locations are subject to availability.
