Color Management Settings in Digital Photo Professional
Default Settings of Work Color Space
Most users should select either "sRGB" or "Adobe RGB" as DPP's default color space, depending largely upon the final intended use of the images in question. The Adobe 1998 RGB color space is often used in high-quality, 4-color book and magazine publishing, and for prints from high-end inkjet printers. The standard sRGB color space conforms to web standards, and in some cases is a preferred choice for prints from conventional desktop printers. The color space in DPP and in image-editing software (such as Adobe Photoshop) should be set the same.
In Digital Photo Professional's "Preferences" dialog box, click on the Color Management tab at the top of the box. Verify that the settings are correct for your system. Problems with how images are displayed or printed may be due to settings here.
Color Matching Setting
When you calibrate your monitor as discussed on "Color Management", the software creates a monitor profile that can be specified at a later time. In an ordinary Windows environment, sRGB is sometimes used as a default setting.
When Adobe Photoshop or another image-processing software package is used in conjunction with Digital Photo Professional, the two software packages will display the colors differently if this profile is incorrectly set. Be sure to correctly make this setting.
