In addition to the six pre-set Picture Styles already discussed, Canon Inc. will provide additional specialized Picture Styles on its web site that users can download. They can be installed in the EOS 5D and similar SLRs with built-in Picture Styles capability as a "User Defined" style, and/or added to Canon software such as Digital Photo Professional and RAW Image Task. Specialized Picture Style Files will occasionally be made available by Canon. They will usually be effective in limited scenes or conditions, and are intended to be used along with -- not instead of -- the six built-in Picture Style choices. Up to three Picture Style files can be installed into EOS SLR cameras which support Picture Styles, using the three "User Defined" areas. Downloaded Picture Style Files can also be used with Canon DPP (v. 2.0 or higher) software, and RAW Image Task software. With DPP, RAW files from most EOS digital SLRs can be processed using these Picture Style Files, or any of the six pre-set Picture Styles. (See Note 1) (1) Original RAW image data is never changed by use of Picture Styles or other controls in the camera or Canon software. If a particular effect is tried and is not satisfactory, simply select different Picture Styles or other RAW image settings, and process the file again. The provided Picture Style files are intended to only be effective in a very limited number of scenes. Consequently, Canon does not guarantee that images can always be generated as users expect. In addition, if they are used to shoot casual scenes, they may cause unnatural images to be generated. Users are asked to accept these points before using Picture Style files. With Digital Photo Professional Ver. 2.0.1.4 for Mac OS X, saving the multiple RAW images in a bach-processing is not possible with the images Picture Style file applied.
