Christopher Newport University

In 2007, Canon, U.S.A., Canon Virginia and Christopher Newport University established the Canon Leadership Scholars Program to reward outstanding students and nurture an appreciation of the art of leadership and the importance of citizenship. The purpose is to develop a new generation of committed and highly effective leaders.

Students from throughout the United States will be chosen to participate in Christopher Newport University's highly respected President's Leadership Program. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum and 100 hours of community and public service, students participate in internships and also are given the opportunity to study abroad at Oxford University in England. Each Canon Leadership Scholar receives a $5,000 merit scholarship for four years, for a total of $20,000.

Through this initiative, these scholars will be empowered to become caring, knowledgeable and effective leaders in America and the world.
