Wonderful device but does not work with OS 10.8
I absolutely love this device, It has very much streamlined my workflow and I could not be any happier.... That is until Apple updated their OS to Mountain Lion and the device no longer works. So until Canon can figure out what Apple changed and create a workaround, I will be quite sad. :(
*Note: I was told there was an update online that partially fixed the issue - but I have been unable to find the update on the drivers page.
.
Here are some of my key observations after having used the product for the past year and a half:
.
1) The device uploads in the background while you shoot so there is no file transfer delay. Definitely better than EyeFi. There are also no buffer issues while reading from and writing to the card.
.
2) The device tracks what has uploaded, failed to upload, and not been uploaded so it is very easy to pick up where you left off if you have to turn the camera off. I have only had issues with duplicate files once - and it was my fault.
.
3) 10-30 second transfer rate for medium jpegs depending on the wifi network speed. I typically shoot about 7,000 images a day and the device keeps up without issue.
.
4) Battery drain is fast and the first battery to go is always the camera battery, not the wft battery. As a result, to change batteries, you must remove the WFT device from the camera each time.
.
5) Setup at first was a bit of a challenge but once I figured it out, it is very easy to work with and change.
.
6) The design of the device is not as ergonomic as the battery grips and I have found that my thumb goes numb after prolonged use. I wish they could tweak the design slightly.

Coupled my WFT-E4IIA with a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx
GPS unit and WOW! what an easy and quick sync.
Extremelly accurate and the total time spent connecting
was less than 3 minutes. Great combonation unfortunately
the 60CSx is becoming hard to find. Most of the others
Canon reccomends are already discontinued.

Slow RAW transfers
When I purchased unit I never thought about transfer speed, and being used to wire connection was used to 3 or 4 second turn-around to evaluate. I shoot 150 shots in a 1 1/4 hr portrait session, this piece would add 45 min to that and cause loss of momentum. I wish I had understood how slow a RAW transmission is compared to simple wire hookup. Probably ok for jpg files, but that doesn't work for me.

Very nice accesoire for EOS 7D to work free in studio envoirment (EOS Utility). But first you have to complete the settings or IP code, password etc etc to let it work. Not easy at the first time. Pitty there is no propper explanation. I didn't find one. This accesoire does need a better instruction manual or giving examples. I'm glad I bought this one.
