-
True Monochrome Prints:
The 3 monochrome inks which are part of the 10-ink LUCIA system consist of Photo Black, Matte Black, and Gray. These inks deliver enhanced, deep black density to raise your level of professional print quality when creating the dramatic expression of grayscale photography. The premium LUCIA monochrome inks work together with the Chroma Optimizer to reduce the effect of bronzing. As a result, your printed photos will have expanded dynamic range, especially in the darker or shadow areas of the image.
-
Uniform Ink Height:
The Chroma Optimizer brings uniform ink height over the printed image and regulates surface reflection. This maintains the natural color and integrity of your printed photos.
-
Optimum Analysis and Mixture of Color:
The Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System utilizes two major technologies that were first introduced in the PIXMA PRO-1. The first is a sophisticated mixing balance of inks determined from numerous ink combinations and advanced analysis. During this analysis, the OIG System carefully calculates the best results for each print mode and paper type used while looking at various image factors including color reproduction, tonal gradations, black density, low graininess, glossiness, anti-bronzing and anti-metamerism. These critical ink balancing principles are derived from Canon's expertise in imaging technology, as well as the familiar colors of life that people see and remember on a daily basis. The second is the balancing of color reproduction, tonal gradations, and uniform glossiness. The genius and power of the OIG System is truly showcased when your image is printed, exhibited, and is seen exactly as you envisioned it.
-

Printer Upgrade
Since I purchased the Pixma Pro 10 I have printed over 25 8 X10's, several 5X7's and 6X4's including one 13 X19. The printer is doing a great job. Very impressive results in detail, color, and saturation. I realize the ink can run up the cost however if I had used my ole printer I know I would have sent more on ink.
The only negative I can find with the printer is documents. This is a photo printer and documents are printed very slow. You can overcome this by selecting paper output and the printer does well. Still going through the learning curve so as time moves forward hope to work out all of these little details This is my first Canon Product and I have to say I am very pleased. One final note Canon's technical support have been great. All questions and concerns were handled completely.

Very good, with some caveats...
The first few prints tell me this is a fine printer, and I think it is a good value as well. One concern is that at this point (November 10, 2012), none of the inks are available! Once you use up the inks that ship with it you're going to wait! And here you thought that the inks were the real business.... One other small gripe: the Canon marketing literature talks about direct support for third party paper. Profiles are supplied only for a limited set, and for some reason, borderless printing seems to work only with Canon paper--that is an unreasonable limitation that should be removed.
