| Select EOS digital cameras now feature touch screen LCD monitors with capacitive technology similar to today’s popular mobile devices. The EOS Rebel T5i, EOS Rebel SL1 and EOS M feature a Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II. This screen is touch-sensitive and delivers a modern and intuitive method of operating camera settings, such as gaining a superb level of AF control using Touch AF. This allows the user to select the area the camera should focus on. Touch Shutter makes it possible to release the camera’s shutter by simply using your finger to tap the LCD monitor. While previewing photos, it’s even possible to zoom, change images and access menu control by using simple touch gestures. The LCD’s surface is treated with a smudge resistant coating to minimize fingerprints and maintain a bright, clear image display. The EOS Rebel T5i’s Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II has the additional benefit of being Vari-angle, for shooting and viewing in a wide variety of situations and angles. |

Canon’s spectacular Live View shooting is now available through most of the EOS digital models. Live View Function, where shots can be composed and shot directly from the camera’s LCD, is an indispensable feature for creative photography in any number of situations. It enables the photographer to zoom in and navigate the composition at 5x or 10x normal size, while enabling critical focus and allowing more attention to detail. Users can even choose a grid overlay, perfect for architectural photography. In the studio, Live View Function can be used remotely (via a computer) through the camera’s USB connection, or wirelessly if the optional Wireless File Transmitter is used. |

One of the elements that distinguish Canon’s Live View Function from others is its range of sophisticated focusing modes, including Hybrid CMOS AF and Touch AF. Found in the EOS Rebel T5i and EOS M Digital Camera, Hybrid CMOS AF is a system that combines both phase and contrast detection AF, while aided by pixels on the camera’s sensor that assist in predicting subject location. This makes Continuous AF tracking quick and easy in video recording and enhances focus performance. Featured on the EOS Rebel SL1, Hybrid CMOS AF II builds on the amazing system of Hybrid CMOS AF and provides a widened focus area for easier subject tracking. As the EOS Rebel T5i, EOS Rebel SL1 and EOS M Digital Cameras are equipped with a touch screen LCD monitor, Touch AF is also possible: the user can specifically designate an AF point on a subject right on the screen, providing more user control than ever.
Some additional modes included in Live View shooting are Quick mode, Live mode, and Face Detection Live mode. In Quick mode, One-Shot AF is set automatically and the AF point is selectable even while the Live View image is displayed. In Live mode, AF can be started by pressing the AE button for either AF mode. In Face Detection Live, the system detects the largest face near the center of the frame, but the Multi-controller can be used to select any face detected. |

Canon’s brilliant Dual Axis Electronic Level display aids in achieving perfect orientation in every shot. Visible in either the viewfinder or the camera’s LCD, in both Live View or as a standalone and capable of displaying both roll and pitch in 1-degree increments, the Dual Axis Electronic Level is invaluable for architecture, macro photography, video, or any situation where critical composition is important.
 |
| Live View Function is a powerful problem-solver that addresses all those situations in which it would be awkward, difficult, or impossible to shoot conventionally by looking through the viewfinder. The Canon Remote Live View Function enables EVF (Electronic Viewfinder) shooting via a wired or wirelessly connected computer. While viewing the real-time output from the camera’s imaging sensor on a computer monitor, the photographer can perform numerous functions, such as check and adjust the focus using 5x and 10x magnification, check for moiré and false color, and verify composition, lighting, and exposure, before remotely releasing the shutter via the computer. |

Select Canon EOS cameras offer Full HD video capabilities: by shooting video with a large sensor camera it’s simple to take advantage of the image quality and characteristics intrinsic to SLR photography. Full HD EOS cameras increase flexibility for the photographer in that they also allow for full use of Canon EF and EF-S lenses, including wide angle, macro, tilt-shift and fisheye, providing a wealth of depth-of-field and other creative shooting options once reserved only for still photography. Most EOS cameras feature 1920 x 1080 Full HD video capture, delivering professional frame rates, adaptive exposure tools and phenomenal image quality.
Select EOS cameras offer users a Live View shooting/Movie shooting button and a choice to record in either All-I† or IPB† compression. It automatically splits files greater than 4GB (FAT limitation) without interruption and offers the option of timecoding at all times (Free Run) or only during recording (Rec Run), useful for multi-camera shots. Combined with their selectable frame rates, large image sensor size and high image quality, Canon EOS Full HD cameras become all-in-one image-capturing tools. |
 |
| AII-I† |
Compresses each frame. Although the file size is larger than IPB, each frame is not affected by the previous and next frames, making it suitable for editing and extracting frames. |
| IPB† |
Compresses the movie frame by referencing the previous and next frames. High compression is used, making it suitable for recording long movies. |
| † All-I and IPB are featured in the EOS-1D X, 5D Mark III, and 6D only. |
For accurate focus tracking during video capture, Canon developed Movie Servo AF (found on select EOS cameras) to deliver remarkable speed and reliability. This AF system takes advantage of the Hybrid CMOS AF and Hybrid CMOS AF II feature on select EOS cameras, which makes the camera lock focus on the subject with great speed and tracks it, throughout the composition, to keep it focused. Movie Servo AF automatically tracks a subject’s distance as its position moves through the frame. Movie Servo AF can be used with any lens, and can provide even smoother and quieter continuous AF performance when used with one of Canon’s STM lenses.

With so many features and settings available, even the best photographer might occasionally have doubts as to whether all of the camera settings are optimal for the shot. Canon’s ingenious Picture Style feature comes to the rescue, providing a number of user-friendly presets, including standard, neutral and landscape, which allow fine-tuning of the images the camera produces. Select EOS cameras have Picture Style Auto that automatically adjusts color tones based on the camera’s scene detection technology. These presets can be used in much the same way one would use different types of film, and more can be created using Canon’s included Picture Style Editor Software. Individual camera settings such as sharpening, contrast, color tone and saturation can be overridden if need be.

| In-camera Creative Filters let you artistically manipulate scenes. Soft Focus conveys a dreamy aspect; Grainy Black and White gives a hard-bitten look. Miniature Effect manipulates perspective so large subjects appear tiny, and Toy Camera Effect copies the colors and softness rendered by cameras with plastic lenses. Fisheye Effect mimics "Fisheye" lenses favored by professional photographers for their quirky, convex perspective. Art Bold Effect makes the photos appear to be an oil painting in which subjects look three-dimensional, and Water Painting Effect adjusts an image’s colors so that they are softer, like a watercolor painting. Miniature Effect can also be applied to video recording on the EOS Rebel SL1. |

| With Canon’s advanced Camera Direct capabilities, photographers can adjust images using the Face Brightener and Red-eye Correction functions. With control over contrast, saturation, color tone, and color balance levels, high image quality is attainable without post-production software. Photographers can also crop a vertical image to create a horizontal image or, by simply zooming in on a detail, crop an image with the in-camera trimming tool. When connecting a Canon digital printer, 35-frame contact sheets and single image or 20-image prints can be generated along with shooting information. Printers like the PIXMA Pro-series Photo Printers are designed to allow advanced Camera Direct settings to override their default settings, so even the finest image adjustments on Canon EOS cameras are accurately translated onto prints. |
