Select VIXIA camcorders feature a 1/3-inch native 1920 x 1080 Canon HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor that incorporates technology proven in Canon's professional-level camcorders. The VIXIA HF G30 uses an increased-area 1/2.84-inch Canon HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor, which has more pixels to accommodate the large zoom on that camcorder. Unlike image sensors found in competitive camcorders, HD CMOS Pro Sensors use fewer pixels, which are significantly larger and more sensitive, resulting in superb low-light performance and a wide dynamic range. The latest generation HD CMOS Pro Image Sensors found on the VIXIA HF G30 and VIXIA HF G20 feature improvements to the microlenses and color filters, allowing for a 20% increase in light capture at each photodiode. The VIXIA HF G30 features a newly designed 8-Blade Circular Aperture – a first for a Canon camcorder – for more natural and pleasing “bokeh.” Because the aperture is circular, points of light in out-of-focus areas become circularly blurred, avoiding the “starburst effect” found in camcorders without circular apertures. | Canon’s sophisticated SuperRange Optical Image Stabilizer corrects shake instantly, so even handheld video taken at long focal lengths is sharp and steady. Dynamic SuperRange OIS takes shake correction to a whole new level. It provides continuous adjustment through the entire zoom range to correct an even broader range of motion. Extra compensation is applied at wide-angle focal lengths to help eliminate unwanted vibration. New Dynamic Mode, featured on the VIXIA HF G30 and VIXIA HF R Series camcorders, adds electronic correction of the three “roll” axes. Together with the left-right and up-down axes correction of the OIS System, these camcorders have five-axis correction, which helps ensure smooth, distortion-free video, even while walking. Additionally, Powered IS provides an even higher level of compensation for subtle hand movement at the telephoto end, so video is steady across the zoom range. |
