LAS VEGAS, October 7, 2010 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today previewed the CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera1 at Vision Expo West. In addition to the CR-2 retinal camera, which is awaiting FDA clearance, Canon will showcase its current complete line of ophthalmic solutions at Vision Expo West, in the Canon booth (booth #: MS6063) at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, October 7th – 9th, 2010.
Weighing only 33 pounds, the CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera has a light, more compact leading-edge design, resulting in an intuitive instrument that is easy to use. The CR-2 retinal camera can be easily installed and takes up minimal office space or for added convenience, can be easily transported when needed. The illuminated control panel allows medical staff to navigate operations in darkened rooms. Contributing to a lower total-cost-of-ownership, the CR-2 retinal camera's energy-efficient design with white LED for flash intensity improves maintenance and uses less power, helping to reduce energy costs in medical facilities.
The CR-2 Digital Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera's low flash intensity minimizes pupil constriction thereby shortening the time required for taking multiple pictures such as binocular, stereo photography. It also helps avoid having to retake images due to patient's blinking. The CR-2 retinal camera's small pupil mode has a 3.3mm diameter that contributes to efficient screening and assists when a patient's pupil is difficult to dilate. The auto exposure function optimizes image brightness without having to manually set the observation light and flash intensity.
"Canon understands the need to deliver an ophthalmic solution that improves patient comfort and operator efficiency," said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. "At this year's show, we are excited to preview the CR-2 Digital Non-Mydraitic Retinal Camera, an instrument developed to make it simple and convenient for ophthalmic professionals to provide quality care to their patients by providing outstanding digital imaging technology."
Canon markets a full line of digital imaging solutions for the ophthalmic world, including Non-Mydriatic and Mydriatic Retinal cameras, and full auto-tonometer and full auto-ref keratometers, all of which will be on display at the show. In addition to the CR-2 retinal camera, Canon will display:
