Features
-
Track All Output Costs:
uniFLOW helps the finance department track and assess the organizations current printing costs. For Canon MFPs, copy, fax and scan usage can also be recorded along with any printing activity.
Each printer can be assigned multiple price structures, allowing the tracking of charges to the user as well as the internal printing costs.
Budgets can be set to stop users printing more than they are entitled to. Managers' authorization can be required before printing large or expensive jobs.
Multi-level cost codes can be assigned to print and copy jobs making sure the correct budget is charged for the work.
-
Collect Secure Jobs From Any Printer:
One disadvantage of using an MFP rather than a local printer is that someone may mistakenly pick up another users print job. uniFLOW allows print jobs to be stored on a server and only be released once the user is standing next to the printer. Users working outside the company network can send jobs via the internet to be collected when convenient. The uniFLOW MEAP applet on the imageRUNNER device presents end users with a very rich user interface to select and control their jobs in this regard. Users can now even preview the first page of the document and if needed make changes to print job before it is printed.Secure printing stops potentially secure documents from being left on the output tray for anyone to see.
Strong and secure authentication and control through multiple methods of identification and access including integrations into corporate card based systems (For e.g.: HID Proximity, Legic/Mifare, Hitag, Magnetic, etc.)
-
Mobile Printing:
uniFLOW provides several different methods for users to submit jobs, including submission via e-mail, uploading a job via a web browser and printing directly from an application using an Internet enabled driver. uniFLOW also supports direct printing for iPhone and iPad.
-
Mobile Release:
All of the print release capabilities within uniFLOW are seamlessly supported for mobile users. Mobile jobs can be released from any uniFLOW controlled printer via card access or pin code. In addition, the mobile device itself can also be used to control the release of the print jobs at the device. Via the uniFLOW mobile web browser page users will be able to identify themselves, select a printer and then select which of their jobs to release. There is also a uniFLOW native app for Apple iOS devices like iPod, iPhone and iPad. The app enables the mobile device to identify the printer, for example by a QR code, select a print job from the user's personal print queue, make necessary print settings and release their job.
An iPhone®, iPod® and iPad® of Apple Inc., iOS® of Cisco Technology.
-
Use Any Printer of the Network:
As the user can choose any printer on the network to release their job, regardless of model or manufacturer, uniFLOW includes a Universal Printer driver that ensures the output is exactly as the user expects. Once the user has identified at the MFP a list of jobs waiting for the user is displayed on the device panel where the user can decide to change how the job will be printed before releasing it.
-
Control How Jobs are Printed:
uniFLOW allows an interactive routing of print jobs to the most cost effective device or the routing of print jobs to alternative devices if a printer is not available. Users are made aware about the cost of the print job prior to printing and if they choose to print to the alternate printer which is less expensive, these savings are recorded in the uniFLOW database and a cost savings report is available. An advanced authorization workflow built into uniFLOW allows approval for print jobs when certain criteria are met. For e.g: any print job less than 100 pages, no authorization needed, but if the print job exceeds 100 pages, authorization is needed by your manager.
-
Restrict Access to the MFP:
With the tight integration of uniFLOW and the Canon MFP, the IT manager can set access policies to each device. For example, staff can only be allowed to copy in color on the MFPs next to the managing director while managers can copy in color on any device.
-
Advanced Device Management:
uniFLOW v5.1 introduces new capabilities for complete print infrastructure management by combining user based print management with device based print management into a single system. uniFLOW now incorporates powerful device meter and status information capture technology across multi-vendor device fleets. This is complemented by a flexible workflow capability to produce dynamic alerts on device status changes and enable efficient consumables management and control maintenance activities.
Reports on print activities and user behavior allow unique insights in order to achieve a more efficient and cost-effective print environment.

Data Collection
uniFLOW v5.1 enables IT and business managers to collect comprehensive data from all devices in their fleet including counter readings, status and information about consumables.Device Monitoring
The collected data can be used to control and optimize the complete print environment. uniFLOW allows for the definition of actions, including messages to users or the help desk depending on the data received. This notification workflow includes alerts and consumable status.
Reporting
uniFLOW provides a number of reports which help to manage the print environment. These reports contain information about the inventory, show over and under-utilized devices, can compare the use of consumables over different time periods.
-
Integration with Back-Office Systems:
Access to the device can be controlled by a variety of cards, fingerprint, PIN number or username and password. uniFLOW can integrate with the organization's existing user directory or it can "self-learn" which card belongs to which user removing the burden from the IT department.
For the scanning environment, uniFLOW includes native integration with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint and Therefore among others. Scanned documents can be highly compressed reducing hard disk space requirements on the server.
-
Scan to Email in an Editable Format:
Once the user has identified themselves at the MFP, they can also scan paper documents easily back to their email or to the company document management system.
uniFLOW can perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on the document and convert the image to an editable format, as well as extracting text and barcodes to be used as indexing information. The document can be highly compressed to reduce the file size and storage requirements.
The interaction with the scanning interface is dynamic and personalized for each user. Personal buttons and scan workflows will follow the user to whichever device they choose to use.
-
Integration with External Systems:
uniFLOW's open platform principle means that uniFLOW is designed to also easily integrate also with other software applications for document management, content extraction, payment transaction management, extended reporting and others.
-
NT-ware Hardware:
In addition to having integration with Canon MFPs using the embedded MEAP platform, NT-ware provides several hardware solutions to support card authentication and secure printing on 3rd party devices, single function printers or even Canon Single Function Printers (Canon LBP).
-
