Sophisticated HD Recording at the Touch of a Button.
EOS HD Video Recording
Addressing the requests of the pros, the EOS-1D X captures HD video with an unprecedented level of sophistication for a digital SLR. It offers both All-I and IPB compression, supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile, and automatically splits files greater than 4GB (FAT specifications) for extended recording up to 29:59 minutes without interruption. It offers the option of timecoding only during recording (Rec Run) or at all times (Free Run) - useful for multi-camera shoots. The EOS-1D X offers easy operation with the new Live View shooting/Movie shooting button. Menu options can still be set even when the Live View image is displayed. A dedicated menu tab for video capture allows functions to be changed quickly on the fly. Improved sound recording adjustment capabilities offer 64-step volume control; and a sound recording level meter that is accessible through the Quick Control screen during video shooting. With the Silent Control function, adjustments can be made quietly with a touch pad located on the inner portion of the Quick Control Dial. The built-in wind filter helps suppress unwanted wind noise that can distort or muffle sound. The CMOS sensor's new drive system significantly increases image processor performance, reducing color artifacts and moiré.
Compresses each frame. Although the file size is larger than IPB, each frame is not affected by the previous and next frames, making it suitable for editing and extracting frames.
Compresses the movie frame by referencing the previous and next frames. High compression is used, making it suitable for recording long movies.
Best investment ever
I am a professional and have been using Canon products for 30+ years and I have found this 1DX to be superior in every way that I have used it so far. I photograph wildlife and need that speed, plus the advantages of the ISO range with out noise is out of this world. I own 2 1Ds mark III's, and I plan on getting at least 2 more of the 1DX's. Only regret is that I didn't get the 1DX sooner.

Great But Some Faults
This camera works very well and the pictures that I take with it are very precise and not pixelated. The camera, although is sort-of bulky and heavier than other Canon cameras I have used.

A MUST CAMERA
Purchased this camera about 2 months ago. Took it to the Bahamas. Shot photos at 4:30 in the morning and the ISO did such a great job photos came out looking like it was in the middle of the day.
As far as action shooting it surpassed what I thought the camera would do. Crystal clear photos and has allowed me to finally get the shots I have been looking for. Used to use the EOS 50D and upgraded to this camera and will regret spending the money. Only downside is no auto for those of you who are used to using the auto option. Myself I don't use auto. If you want to get serious about shooting this camera will make you learn to shoot in manual. The controls are great as far as adjusting shots on the fly. The change of the controls allow for this to be done very quickly with minimal time. Love being able to turn camera sideways and shoot with shutter button in same spot as tho I was shooting horizontally.

EOS-1D X Purchase
I have had a few months to learn this camera. I find that it is the very best Canon Professional Camera to date. The build and image quality is superb. The menu system is failry simple, but one may need some practice to use it fast and confidently. This is my third Canon camera and my second digital Canon camera. The only issues with the camera, which I deem negligble are its weight, cannot access highlight and shadow information at the same time, and a bit noisy when using video.
Also, I wish it were completely compatible with the earlier 1.4 and 2.0 extenders. Especially, when they are used with the earlier 200mm and 400mm 2.8 L lenses . This is the best digital camera, I have ever used.
