Generation Green is Canon's new environmental initiative. This program encompasses imageCLASS Laser Printers, PIXMA Inkjet Printers, and Scanners. Generation Green is designed to provide business partners, customers and consumers a way to learn about the environmentally-friendly approach Canon is taking in designing many of its current and future products. The imageCLASS D1120 has the following Generation Green characteristics:
Auto-Duplexing - Using automatic two-sided printing and copying can save you up to 50% of your paper supply.
4-in-1, 2-in-1 Printing - This option allows users to place multiple pages on one page, saving up to 75% of your paper supply.
Energy Saving Mode - When the imageCLASS D1120 enters Energy Saving Mode, it has a low power consumption of 3 watts of energy.
On-Demand SURF Technology - On-Demand SURF (Surface Rapid Fixing) technology uses a linear ceramic heater that heats instantly for fast warm up speeds and Quick First Prints. This results in up to a 75% reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional roller-fixing systems.
Toner Saving Mode - When the imageCLASS D1120 is switched into the toner saving mode, it allows for up to a 20% more economical toner usage.
AIRSHELL Cartridge Packaging - AIRSHELL is packaging material for our imageCLASS toner cartridges that utilizes air cushioning. It reduces product package sizes, helps to improve shipping efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions generated during transport by approximately 23% to 49%.
Toner Cartridge Recycling Program - Canon was the first in the printing industry to create a toner cartridge recycling program. Canon toner cartridges are 100% recovered with zero landfill waste.
Hardware Recycling Program - Canon is committed to the world community and the belief that we are building a better world for future generations. We want to work with our customers to ensure appropriate recycling of certain imageCLASS products to help improve the environment and our local communities.
Refurbishing Program - The Canon refurbishing facility manages waste stream processes for Canon products, so Canon has full control over recovery and salvage for imageCLASS products, not third-party vendors.
ENERGY STAR® - Qualified products are 25% more efficient than conventional models. By using less energy these products reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save energy as well as money. The imageCLASS D1120 automatically enters low-power mode when not in use.
RoHS Compliant - This is a directive from the European Union that restricts the use of hazardous materials found in electronic products. This product restricts the use of cadmium, mercury, lead, hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).
ISO 14001 - We currently hold the largest Consolidated Certification to the ISO 14001 Standard for our Environmental Management Systems in the world with over 700 Canon companies certified to the Standard.
Energy Star qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. I use this for a copies only. Works great for One or two sided. Top feed works well, I haven't had any jam issues.

Ferrari with a bicycle tires
I have used this copier in my tax practice for 18 months. I also have a different Canon copier in another tax practice that is much older but performs much better in each of the 2 areas I outline below.
There are a lot of great features on this copier for the price. I would absolutely love it if it were not for 2 very big draw backs.
(1) Automatic feeder - Very unreliable when comes to pulling one page at a time. Personally, I don't think the feeder tray is at a steep enough angle to work the way it was designed. My other Canon has a much steeper feeder tray and almost never jams.
(2) The scanner works but can take several minutes to transmit a single page. If you have 10 to 20 pages, I need to plan on waiting about an hour. It's odd, because it scans the page fast, but it just takes forever to communicate to the toolbox software on my computer. Doesn't matter how low of a resolution I set, it still takes forever.

NOT THE BEST
I have used Canon copiers for the past 40 years. They were very reliable with many features. However, after one year and 8 months this machine stopped working. Not very reliable copier.

Great product for the price
I have never met a copier that didn't jam or was a bit complicated to operate. That being said, for the price this copier is awesome. It copies on 2-sides, you can use it as a printer and it is a good scanner. With an automatic feed that works pretty good most of the time, I scan and file just about everything. Having multiple offices, I have been able to reduce labor by having staff in one location review work in another location.
When I bought this, all I wanted was a good copier, I got much more and will buy another one (newer model) this year.
