I have had 2 other brands of 3-in-1 copiers that I prefer to this particular Canon. They were much easier to operate right out of the box. I found this one to be more complicated than I'd anticipated. I've spent way too much time looking for downloaded pictures, scanned documents, and trying to move items from one folder to another. I have not printed pictures on this unit yet the ink seems to be evaporating; I hardly print anything, and then in b/w to save ink since it's not cheap. Other Canon models may be easier to operate but I'll think long & hard before purchasing another.

Very happy with this printer
We have had this printer since May 2012. We have to use the scanner very often in my husband's business, so it was important to have a device to replace our old printer which was always having a problem with the scanning software.
Have been very pleased with this. Over the last year and a half, we have installed wireless printing on a Vista machine twice, (new hard drive) and two different Windows 7 machines. I was always waiting for a glitch, but everything generally goes very smoothly. The only time there is a problem with wireless printing is if the printer has lost power, you may have to "reintroduce" it to a laptop by powering them both down and restarting. Our router is on the second floor of the house and the computers are on the first floor and in the basement. It's great to be able to print from anywhere in the house.
The only problem is the ink runs down fairly quickly, although not as quickly as the cartridges that come with the machine. I've found changing the cartridges easy, and when you order a set of cartridges from Canon directly, they usually include free photo paper or other goodies, and often give discounts and free shipping as well. The shipping is very fast.
The print quality is very good. It prints on CD's as well as doing fine photo printing.
Setup was pretty easy. I have to say the user manual is very complete if sometimes confusing. There are several "utilities" which are difficult to figure out. Copying is easy, I've figured out scanning, and printing is a breeze, but there are all these utilities which apparently do other functions which I can't figure out but have never, thankfully, needed to use them.
I will soon be getting a Windows 8 machine, and I hope the printer works well with it. Windows states it is compatible, but it looks like you have to go to the Canon website and download some Win 8 drivers and software to make it work.

The printer functions as expected but it has small ink vials and go's through ink VERY fast. If you don't own the ink factory, look for another printer.

This printer has been programed in a way that as soon as you run out of any ink color, you cannot access the scanning option. Also you cannot buy only the black ink to print in black and white, you will have to replace all the colors witch costs almost half of what you will pay for the printer. The first ink cartridges that came with the printer ran out way too fast.
