Canon has released a firmware update for the VIXIA HF S10/ HF S100– High Definition Camcorders.

These models are now able to record, play back, and copy movies in MXP and FXP modes with Class 10 SD or SDHC memory cards. This firmware update concerns the use of Class 10 memory cards only. If you are using Class 4 or Class 6 cards, you can continue to use them without performing this firmware update.

Firmware Version 1.0.4.0 is for camcorders with Firmware Version 1.0.0.0 through 1.0.3.0. If the camcorder's firmware is already Version 1.0.4.0, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Once the camcorder is updated to the latest version, it cannot be restored to a previous version.

How to Check the Firmware Version You can check the firmware version of your camcorder by following the procedure below.
1. Set the camcorder to photo playback mode.
2. Press the FUNC. (function) button, and then select Menu.
3. Operate the joystick to select the System Settings tab.
4. Check the version shown in Firmware. (1.0.x.0)
