Sunset Beach (CA)
|
While on vacation in California, my girlfriend and I decided to set our GPS to find the nearest beach. It was late in the afternoon, and 15 minutes later we ended up at a place called Sunset Beach. We grabbed our cameras out of our bags as soon as we saw all the surfers riding the waves in the distance. They were too far out in the surf and I only had the 24-105mm zoom on me. I just waited, hoping to catch one of them closer to shore.
Once the sun started to set and the colors in the sky really changed, I started shooting sunset photos with the wider end of the lens. A few moments later, a group of surfers ran across my frame to get to the another part of the beach where the waves were really high.
Everything seemed to come together all at once: From the colors of the sky to the backlit/ silhouetted surfers, even the seagull overhead. I was in the right place at the right time!
