The demand for high bandwidth
wireless transmission systems supporting HDTV
and SDTV digital video formats (HD-SDI & SDI)
is increasing as more and more production facilities
go digital.
The DT-50/HD SDI and DT-50/SDI are the latest
introductions to the Canobeam series, Canon's
Free Space Optics (FSO) transmission systems.HDTV
digital microwave transmission is cumbersome from
the fact that it requires an external MPEG2 codec
unit and must be licensed due to the frequency
used. The use of the MPEG2 codec also results
in almost a 1 second delay in video which makes
the system unrealistic for a live remote transmission.
In addition, an HDTV MPEG2 codec requires high
performance custom LSIs, dramatically increasing
the total cost.
Taking advantage over its capabilities of transmitting
higher bit-rates, the DT-50/HD SDI incorporates
a newly developed codec using a unique Canon compression
technology that compresses the 1.5Gbps signal
to only approximately half of its original bit
rate. The transmitted HDTV picture quality exhibits
virtually no loss and has a delay of just one
frame thanks to this unique Canon compression
technology.
The Canobeam DT-50/SDI for SDTV allows full bandwidth
wireless transmission of a wide variety of digital
video signals. (formats listed on next page) Links
can be bi-directional at distances as far as 2km
with a direct line of sight.

airports, or military occupied areas.
DT-50/HD
DT-50 / HD SDI transmits one channel HD-SDI
(SMPTE-292M, 1080/60I, 1080/59.94I, 1035/60I,
1035/59.94I, 720/60P, and 720/59.94P).
Provides high picture quality with only 1
frame delay.
Includes a newly developed internal codec
using unique Canon compression technology.
Link distances can be up to 2km with direct
line of sight.
Capable of full bandwidth bi-directional transmission
allowing a return video signal. (optional with
extra pair of HD-SDI interface cards)
Bi-directional RS-232C data transmission (standard)
