Digital Motion Pictures
The arrival of 24-frame digital motion picture production systems over the past half-decade has given rise to an ever-expanding deployment of these systems for program origination in television, television commercials, and moviemaking. Increasing numbers of producers, directors, directors of photography, and editors are embracing digital options (as they also continue to work with motion picture film).
Over three decades Canon established a broad line of portable EFP lenses that work superbly with all available professional digital cameras and camcorders. We have more recently branched into a separate line of portable cine lenses tailored to the specific stated requirements of film directors of photography (DPs). Our commitment here began in 2001 when we introduced a family of 2/3-inch prime lenses and two cine zoom lenses. Within three years we completely replaced those prime lenses with a second-generation family of six primes – guided entirely by comments and suggestions from DPs who worked with our earlier products. A new zoom lens was designed in close concert with these primes.
