As video continues its transition to widescreen 16:9 HD (high definition) in every sector of television technology, demand has increased for a versatile and cost effective HD Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera system for specialized applications. These applications include POV (point-of-view) cameras for broadcast and cable studios, houses of worship, legislative chambers, remote-controlled Web cameras, and a myriad of other robotic remote-control uses. Responding to this demand, Canon introduced its first high definition remote-control robotic pan-tilt HD 16:9 camera system – the now very popular BU-45H – at NAB 2008.
The BU-50H, introduced by Canon at NAB 2009, is a new sister product that builds on the success of the BU-45H Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera system.  Whereas the BU-45H was specifically designed as an outdoor system, the BU-50H has been exclusively tailored to the needs of a wide range of indoor applications.

The central premise of the BU-50H design criteria was an extremely low operational mechanism noise level so that the system can be actuated within venues and situations which, by their very nature, are unusually quiet.  Concert halls, lecture auditoriums, and recording studios are just some of the countless situations for which the BU-50H is ideally suited.  In contrast to this, the BU-45H was designed within a ruggedized weather-proof housing capable of sustaining reliable coverage in remote outdoor locations over protracted periods of time.

The BU-50H robotic remote-control camera is a highly versatile high-definition imaging system combining Canon HD optics, HD camera, and Pan-Tilt mechanism in an integrated turnkey product that achieves a highly attractive price performance ratio.
