CANON BROADCAST LENSES SHOWCASE
THE QUALITY
AT HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS
Three Canon PJ20x8 BIE Lenses Improve Leading College Facilities
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Dec. 30 – Students are getting
an education in optical excellence with three new Canon
lenses at Hofstra University’s video training facilities.
The precision and reliability of three PJ20x8 BIE, or Super
E20, lenses will be an important part of the lesson plan
at Hofstra’s School of Communications, where the intensive
video curriculum requires broadcast-quality lenses with
the highest specifications.
“Canon reigns supreme in optical quality,”
confirms Joseph Valerio, Chief Video Engineer, Hofstra University
School of Communications. “Their lenses are the best
in the business, and you don’t need to spend a lot
of time setting them up because they work right out of the
box. It’s a virtually maintenance-free product that
lives up to Canon’s great reputation.”
The Canon broadcast lenses are a perfect fit at Hofstra,
which features the largest non-commercial stage on Long
Island and intensive programs in commercial and non-commercial
production, advertising and corporate video. “The
Super E20 is a small studio lens that’s a perfect
fit for our 40’ x 50’ room,” Valerio says.
“With the 2X extender it’s a 40x1 lens, plus
digital readouts and other features that give us more than
we ever dreamed of for the price point. It’s really
kept our costs down.”
Canon’s reliability and commitment to customer service
give Hofstra students a first-hand lesson on best practices
in the industry. “Canon lenses have proven extremely
reliable to us – there is almost no need for maintenance,”
says Valerio. “If you do need help, Canon has a great
support team. Their salespeople reach out on a personal
level, giving you support and contact with the company that
is definitely appreciated.”
The Canon Super E20 from Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary
of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ), with a wide angle of 8 mm, is
an economical, high quality studio zoom lens that incorporates
all of the functions of the Canon J20 Super, a lens that
is a standard of the broadcast industry. Features of the
Super E20 include Canon’s exclusive IF Internal Focus
system and the optional “Crossover” system for
seamless 4x3 and 16x9 operation on switchable cameras. The
Super E20 can also be used in conjunction with portable
cameras, thanks to a unique Built In Supporter for the lens
and camera combination.
With a suite of new Canon lenses capturing the images in
their facility, Hofstra University has affirmed its standing
as one of the top video education programs in the nation.
“Canon allows us our students to work with lenses
of flawless optical quality,” Joseph Valerio says.
“They work extremely well, with good features and
a good support structure in place. Both our students and
teachers are happy to have Canon on campus.”
