E-XPEDIENT/CAVU,
INC. SELECTS
CANOBEAM DT-50 FOR LAUNCH OF WIRELESS
HIGH SPEED COMMERCIAL NETWORK IN MIAMI
Optical Wireless
System from Canon Integral to
Innovative Broadband Internet Solution
MIAMI: Canobeam DT-50, the optical wireless transceiver
system from Canon Broadcast and Communications, has been
selected by broadband supplier e-xpedient/CAVU, Inc. as
a main component in the launch of its high-speed wireless
Internet solution to the Miami metropolitan area. e-xpedient's
innovative network is the first to use free-space optics
(FSO) and 60 GHz broadband fixed-wireless radios to deliver
100 megabit-per-second (Mbps) broadband Internet service.
The Canobeam's unique Auto-Tracking system allows for
fast setup and since there is no need for FCC frequency
allocation, the Canobeam gives e-xpedient a highly reliable
link for its fully redundant, 100 Mbps Internet Protocol
(IP), switched Ethernet network. Businesses looking for
a more efficient alternative to their current ISP have
access to truly affordable broadband service in pricing
packages from $100 - $5,500 and up per month, with instant
activation and full 100 Mbps speed regardless of how much
they use the service.
"Canobeam is a cornerstone of our ability to provide
our customers with dependable, high speed data transmission,
while integrating it quickly with their business,"
says e-xpedient President and CEO Brian Andrew. "As
a Canon product, Canobeam comes with a reputation for
thorough engineering and outstanding support. The combination
of Canobeam's
proven optical wireless technology and 60 GHz radios allows
the e-xpedient network to add any building in a given
metro area with high reliability."
The deployment of Canobeams along with 60 GHz radios
to deliver service
expands the e-xpedient "technology toolbox"
that allows for dense deployments without interference
issues or complicated frequency planning. Canon's constant
footprint feature makes Canobeam a steady performer even
in rainy conditions or in tall buildings with pronounced
building sway. As a result, the network maintains solid
reliability and scalability as speed demands increase.
e-xpedient deployments in Cleveland, Orlando, Jacksonville,
Oklahoma City and Salt Lake City are also scheduled to
take place in the near future.
"e-xpedient has started to make waves both with
its advanced, redundant technology implementation and
the way that they're bringing it to their customers,"
says John Markowitz, Account Executive for Canobeam. "The
rollout of their network in the Miami area demonstrates
how Canobeam can be a highly effective solution for the
fast-growing broadband needs of end-user businesses."
