SYSTEM RECEIVES DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARD FROM THE INDUSTRIAL
DESIGNERS SOCIETY OF AMERICA
More than 150 Medical Institutions and Facilities Nationwide
Use the Award-Winning Canon CXDI-50G Portable DR System
LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y, June 27, 2005—Underscoring
its commitment to advancing innovation in medical imaging,
Canon U.S.A., Inc. today announced that the Canon CXDI-50G
portable digital radiography (DR) system has been honored
with a 2005 Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA)
from
the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
The IDEA program, co-sponsored by BusinessWeek and the
IDSA, was created to demonstrate how superior industrial
design can have an impact on quality of life and business.
The award-winning Canon CXDI-50G portable DR system,
which combines a large imaging area (14"x17")
with a lightweight design (10.6 pounds and less than
an inch thick), has expanded the range of radiographic
exams that can be completed using DR technology.
More than 150 medical institutions and facilities nationwide
are currently using the Canon CXDI-50G DR system to provide
rapid digital X-ray images.
"Canon is an innovator when it comes to portable
DR systems, introducing the world's first portable DR system—the
Canon CXDI-31—in 2001," said Tsuneo Imai, director
and general manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A,
Inc. "Our second generation portable system—the
Canon CXDI-50G—brings affordable DR technology to
more imaging applications than ever before, including trauma,
orthopedic, ICU and bedside imaging, amongst others."
With a portable sensor designed for patient comfort, and
quick and efficient access to images, the Canon CXDI-50G
DR system provides speed and efficiency to help diagnose
even the most critically ill patients.
The Canon CXDI-50G DR system is large enough for chest
and abdominal X-rays, yet it is as easy to position as
a conventional film cassette or CR imaging plate when performing
lateral or axial imaging of limbs and other areas. If necessary,
a patient can hold the sensor easily in place during image
capture.
The compact design allows the Canon CXDI-50G DR system
to be a practical solution for a wide range of X-ray room
applications that are difficult to perform with fixed devices.
When combined with a mobile X-ray unit, the Canon CXDI-50G
DR system can bring digital radiography directly to the
patient's bedside.
Whether capturing images in the X-ray room or at the bedside,
preview images can be viewed quickly, in approximately
three to five seconds, with total image processing time
of approximately 20 seconds.
