Changes:
Firmware Version 1.0.3.0 incorporates the following improvements:
1. Adds the 1440 x 1080 35Mbps setting to the camcorder's recording modes.
2. Displays the Korean language.

For more information on these improvements, please visit the Canon website to download the latest version of the instruction manual.

Firmware Version 1.0.3.0 is for camcorders with Firmware Version 1.0.0.0 through 1.0.2.0. If the camcorder's firmware is already Version 1.0.3.0, it is not necessary to download this firmware. 
Once the camcorder is updated to the latest version, it cannot be restored to a previous version.

Please update the bundled Canon XF Utility application to Version 1.3 so that video clips that are recorded with Firmware Version1.0.3.0 can be correctly recognized by the application. The following updaters have already been released.

Preparations for the Firmware Update:
If you perform the update, the menu settings and Custom Picture settings will be reset. 
Prior to updating the firmware, it is advisable to save your menu settings and Custom Picture settings to an SD card which is different from the one used for the firmware update. After the firmware update, load the saved settings data back to the camcorder. For details, please see the "Saving and Loading Camera Settings" section of the instruction manual for these models.

The downloaded folder contains the firmware (file name: VHA3.FIM / file size: 23035472 bytes), and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully confirm your understanding of these instructions.

The following things are required to perform this firmware update:
1. Camcorder
2. A computer (OS: Windows)
OS Requirements: Windows 7 SP1, Windows Vista SP2, Windows XP SP3
3. A 32 MB or higher-capacity SD Memory Card or an SDHC Memory Card (both commercially available)
4. A memory card reader (commercially available) or an SD card slot on the computer 
5. A fully charged battery pack for the camcorder
6. Compact power adapter bundled with the camcorder
7. The firmware (the downloaded file)

A1: The 1440 x1080 35Mbps setting has been added to the camcorder's recording modes. This setting supports normal recording and Pre-recording modes. This setting does not support slow and fast motion recording, interval recording, and frame recording. The camcorder also supports the following recording modes, in addition to the ones that it already supports.
