Across the U.S.

Canon U.S.A.'s regional branch locations and subsidiaries support many local programs and the chapters of national organizations as part of the company's commitment to the environment and our youth.

Our employees are involved in blood drives, charitable walks, education initiatives, support for local emergency and social services, food/clothing/eyeglass drives and efforts around the end of year holidays to provide toys for children.

Atlanta

Canon Clean Earth Crew: employees participate in a variety of activities, including joining with the Meadowcreek Elementary School in Norcross, Georgia, on Earth Day to plant trees (one was 25 feet tall), flowers and ground cover that Canon donated to the school.

Cleaning two "adopted" roads close to the Canon office — Goshen Springs Road and Center Way — four times a year.

Partnering with 140 students, teachers and neighborhood groups to clean up North Peachtree Creek, the stream that Canon "adopted" near Mercer University Campus.

Help One Student To Succeed (HOSTS): employees volunteer to read with special students at Meadowcreek Elementary School.

Chicago

Public Broadcasting: WTTW Television is a local PBS station that Canon supports with volunteers during pledge drives.

American Cancer Society: throughout the year, various events such as races and raffles raise funds for the local chapter.

Dallas

Canon Clean Earth Crew: Each fall and spring, Canon employees and their families spend a Saturday cleaning a different public area in Dallas. Recent clean ups have been held at California Crossing, an historic park in Irving where thousands of 49'ers crossed Trinity River to trek west for California gold, and in downtown Irving as a participant in Keep Irving Beautiful's Trinity Trash Bash.

Crossroads Back to School Drive: Every August, Canon "adopts" children from the Crossroads Housing Transition Program, which supports homeless families in Dallas-Fort Worth. Canon purchases school clothes, school supplies and backpacks so students are ready for the first day of classes.

Hawaii

Aloha United Way: for more than 10 years, a relationship with the located United Way chapter helps local people and organizations.

Irvine

Fran Joswick Therapeutic Riding Center: Canon co-sponsors "Benny", a miniature horse. The center assists disabled children and adults, mainly 21 years and younger. Riding a horse provides the disabled with the same motion as walking, helping them increase their balance, strength and flexibility.

Canon Clean Earth Crew: In the state of Washington, a Canon employee connected with the Irvine office has coordinated several programs through a local school to clean local parks.

Jamesburg, New Jersey

Geisinger Children's Hospital (Danville, Pennsylvania): Partnering with Golden Business Machines, a local Canon dealer of office imaging equipment, for more than 10 years Canon has supported numerous efforts at this hospital that provides children with the unique skill, knowledge and medical attention they require.

Born to Run: Employees run and walk the five miles and others donate their time to this annual November race that supports the Monmouth County Child Abuse Task Force.

Lake Success, New York (Long Island)

Canon Clean Earth Crew: Employees volunteered their time to clean the beach at Riverhead Foundation for Marine Mammal Researh (the organization, located near the end of Long Island, helps injured and stranded seals and turtles) and the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audobon Center (a nature preserve near his Long Island home).

Children's Medical Fund of New York (CMF): A volunteer organization of more than 7,500 members devoted to helping support and equip Schneider Children's Hospital, it is the #1 ranked children's hospital in New York State. Over the years, CMF has raised funds to purchase medical equipment, has helped enhance exploration on oncology, neurology and cardiology, and has furthered medical education and has helped initiate new programs. Island Harvest: an affiliate member of America's Second Harvest (the largest hunger relief organization in the U.S.), the mission is to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island, New York. Rescuing surplus nutritious food from involved companies such as Canon, volunteers deliver the surplus to community-based non-profit organizations. In 2003, four million pounds of food valued at more than $8 million was delivered throughout Long Island. For more information: www.islandharvest.org

Long Island Envirothon: High school teams in Nassau and Suffolk Counties compete for scholarships, local title and the opportunity to compete in New York State Envirothon. The winning team then competes for overall U.S./Canada champion at the Canon Envirothon. The Long Island competition, sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Suffolk and Nassau Counties, is an environmental conservation experience for students in grades 9-12.

United Cerebral Palsey Association: Supports the Nassau County chapter through the purchase and donation of a holiday tree at the annual Festival of Trees exhibition. The most recent tree was created jointly by Canon and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and featured the image and information about a missing child from Long Island.

San Jose

Canon Clean Earth Crew: Canon employees and family joined forces with San Jose's Plant A Row for the Hungry initiative, an idea started by the Garden Writers Association to encourage home gardeners to add just one food crop row to annual plantings and donate the produce to supplement local food banks throughout the United States. The current push to reach a major milestone of one million pounds donated since its inception inspired Canon to transform parking structure planters into vegetable and herb gardens. Employees contributed over 300 pounds of fresh produce to the Second Harvest Food Bank, which accounted for approximately 10 percent of the contributions in the home garden category.

They also participate in the area's Bike To Work Day, part of the week long California Bike Commute Week designed to promote bicycling as a healthy, inexpensive and environmentally positive mode of transportation. Canon's policies and actions have placed this branch location on the Environmental Protection Agency sponsored Bay Area's Best Workplaces for Commuters list for the past two years.

Canon participates in the California Coastal Clean Up Day, focusing on an ecosystem affecting acres of marshes, salt ponds, mudflats and bay shallows rich in wildlife and featuring 250 species of resident and migratory birds. Canon volunteers contributed to the county-wide effort that collected over 18,000 pounds of refuse.

Business Experience Day: In conjunction with the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce, Canon sponsors three high school students, providing a one-day experience in the business world that matches the students' areas of interest.

Washington DC

Canon Clean Earth Crew: Employees spend time cleaning Gravelly Point Park near National Airport to remove debris left by the flow of the Potomac River. The park is popular with runners and bikers. At Daingerfield Island and Jones Point Park, both in Alexandria, mounds of trash and debris deposited by storms were removed.

INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children: employees regularly visit children to deliver toys, stuffed animals, sweets and smiles. Canon also purchased a Rollerbear Transporter, a replica of a mini race car that transports young patients within the hospital, and the Rollberbear IV Stand.

Good Samaritan Foundation: an organization that provides a variety of services for youth from low income neighborhoods, including help in finding summer internships. Canon hosted two high school interns who "joined" the office to learn about business. The students spent three months among various teams in the administration department to learn about each area's functions and responsibilities.

Canon Business Solutions-West (Gardena, California)

1736 Family Crisis Center: supports efforts to provide food, shelter and rehabilitation programs from battered/abused women and children.

Orangewood Children's Foundation (Santa Ana): supports efforts to provide services for children in foster care.
