Are you a foodie looking to capture unique shots of your next great meal adventure? Or a budding chef interested in making great photographs of your food? Or maybe you want to move into professional food photography? Whatever your inspiration — learning how to create interesting and beautiful food (and beverage) photography is fun, challenging and rewarding!

In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to prepare, light, and style a meal to look spectacular.  We’ll walk you through key camera settings, lensing tips, and simple lighting setups. We will also cover the basics of food prep and styling as we work through four different table settings, with different lighting setups and different dishes to capture for variety.

We’ll supply the food, beverages, along with some glasses, flatware, and utensils but feel free to bring your own and any props you can think of to make the photographs your own.

This event is being hosted by the Boston Center for Adult Education, 122 Arlington St., Boston, MA.

Key Takeaways:

  • How to light glass & food

  • How to prepare bottles and glasses for that professional look

  • How to approach lighting a table

  • How to use light modifiers for different styles

  • What items to keep in your tool box

  • Food styling tips

  • How to choose the right lens

We will have lenses, cameras and Speedlites for you to try if you don’t have them. We’re also supplying the light modifiers to light our dishes. In addition, all the food, beverages, along with some glasses, flatware and utensils will be provided. Bring your appetite because you’ll enjoy eating the food after we’ve photographed it!

Bring your camera, lenses, tripod, memory cards and spare batteries. We’ll supply the food, beverages, along with some glasses, flatware and utensils but feel free to bring your own and any props you can think of to make the photographs your own.
