You’ll visit Yellowstone in September, a perfect time, thanks to small crowds, vivid landscapes, active wildlife and herds of elk wandering meadows along the riverbanks. Internationally recognized nature photographer and Canon Explorer of Light, Adam Jones, is your guide as you photograph remarkable scenic landscapes and wildlife including elk, deer, bear, coyote and large herds of bison.

  • Your favorite camera and backup camera if you have one 


  • We recommend bringing zoom lenses that range from 16mm to 500mm for distant landscapes and 
wildlife, such as the EF 24-70mm 2.8/L II USM and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. Please keep in mind that gear loans are included as part of the workshop fee and will pro- vide the opportunity to experiment with the latest Canon gear 


  • Plenty of charged battery packs and memory cards 


  • A sturdy tripod (a must!) 


  • An electronic shutter release - Canon’s TC-80N3 or RS-80N3

  • A laptop computer for downloading images, backup hard drive and USB flash drive 


  • Bring layers of clothing; Weather can be highly variable from early morning to noon. Mornings can be 
in the 30’s and daytime temperatures can climb into the low 70’s 


  • Sturdy, water resistant shoes are suggested for walking in wet or frosty grasses
