Canon Exhibits Comprehensive Visualization Solutions At Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation And Education Conference
MELVILLE, N.Y., December 1, 2015 — Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, will showcase its visualization and imaging products at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, Florida, from November 30 – December 4, 2015. At this year’s I/ITSEC, the Canon booth (#2213) will feature the new REALiS 4K500ST Pro AV LCOS Projector delivering a combination of outstanding image quality, advanced features and compact size that make it ideal for creating immersive simulation and training experiences which require high image quality, but may have limited space.
In addition to the Canon booth, guests can experience immersive training scenarios through the Canon MREAL System for Mixed Reality (MREAL), on display at partner and customer locations throughout the show. Enabling training for “high risk” situations, MREAL can simulate environments normally dangerous or inaccessible with a high degree of realism in order to enhance training effectiveness for government, industry and academia.
MREAL will be on display at the Design Interactive booth (#621) featuring a mountain-side rescue preparation exercise integrating both real and virtual objects. In addition, a preview of an MREAL Training Management System (TMS) will show how performance metrics can be captured to assess the effectiveness of the overall training. In addition, the University of Central Florida (UCF) will display multiple examples of the MREAL system featuring both student work from the inaugural MREAL Internship Competition as well as UCF’s continued research into incident command training on display at booths 2781/2783 and 2160.
“E2i Creative Studio at the University of Central Florida is pleased to be researching innovation with Canon’s MREAL system. Since 2003, our engagement with the MREAL technology has been fascinating in order to explore its use in both university research and enterprise innovation,” said Eileen Smith, director, E2i Creative Studio at the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation and Training. “We are specifically pleased to showcase the successful 2015 Canon Student Internship Project that resulted in twelve senior undergraduate students working on product demonstration concepts for Canon U.S.A. These intern projects showcase how the physical and virtual worlds blend together to produce dynamic training that can transfer directly to the operational environment. This year E2i is also showcasing a Mixed Reality extension of our fire command training simulation utilizing the MREAL system, allowing for different perspectives on training for enhanced fire command.”
Products highlighted by Canon at I/ITSEC will include:
REALiS 4K500ST Pro AV LCOS
The REALiS 4K500ST Pro AV LCOS Projector delivers 4K resolution (4096 x 2400), up to 5000 lumens* and Canon’s LCOS Technology with AISYS-enhancement for brilliant high-brightness and detailed image reproduction. The REALiS 4K500ST also offers a Genuine Canon 4K lens and a robust collection of advanced professional setting features, including Marginal Focus which helps ensure content projected on the peripheral portions of domed surface remains in focus. At only 38.8 lbs. this model offers one of the most compact and lightweight from factors of a high-brightness 4K projector needed for training situations that require exceptional quality.
MREAL System for Mixed Reality
The MREAL System for Mixed Reality provides an imaging solution that simultaneously merges virtual objects with the real world, at full scale and in three dimensions. By combining the rich, visual information of the real world and the flexibility offered by computer-generated images, Mixed Reality offers an imaging experience that can be ideal for situations that need trainees to be immersed in environments normally dangerous or inaccessible to reach new levels of performance and preparation.
The MREAL System offers the portability and flexibility required to adapt to a variety of training needs. The system is highly portable, allowing for easy transport to a variety of locations as needed. Various configurations such as a green screen option open up possibilities for team training and collaboration. A network camera can also be added to the configuration to provide a third-person perspective on the experience to capture additional insight. For more information about Canon U.S.A., visit www.usa.canon.com.
