Integrating Canon’s Imaging and Box Technologies to Provide Enterprise Solutions for Customers in a Variety of Industries.

BoxWorks, San Francisco, September 6, 2016 – Canon Information and Imaging Solutions (CIIS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A. Inc., a channel partner for Box, will showcase Canon enterprise solutions for industries such as Financial Services & Insurance, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Manufacturing, Legal, and Media & Entertainment, at BoxWorks 2016 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center from September 6-8.

Through its collaboration with Box, Canon will demonstrate a number of technology integration examples designed to assist customers in more effectively managing electronic and paper-based information captured through Canon devices and managed through the Box cloud infrastructure.

In addition, with an eye towards the future of content, Canon will also participate in BoxDev @ BoxWorks 2016, the event for developers building within Box. Canon will be exploring the next generation of digital workflow, including Mixed Reality (MREAL), Internet of Things (IoT) and other solutions to enable our customers to prepare for the next wave of human innovation.

BoxWorks 2016 attendees will have an opportunity to hear Canon speak on how the Box content platform and Canon’s imaging technologies empower clients to transform their businesses into connected enterprises with automated, mobile workflow. The Canon session entitled, “Canon and Box - An Elite Partnership to Drive Collaboration for the Digital Enterprise” will be held on September 6, at 7:45- 8:00 pm, and on September 8, at 11:30 -11:45 am.

Attendees visiting Canon booth #P4 will also be able to experience a virtual workplace scenario and a variety of solutions, including:

  • Enterprise Solutions – Office and mobile workers can have easy print and scan access to their cloud content in Box using Canon’s ADVANCE Cloud Portal (ACP) for imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems. Canon will also be presenting user-friendly demos using imageFORMULA document scanners to seamlessly integrate scanning for Box, helping to save time and improve convenience for scanner users. Bundled with Canon’s CaptureOnTouch software, the imageFORMULA document scanners allow users to efficiently scan a document and save it directly to Box cloud storage, or scan directly from Box, providing flexibility for different user preferences. In addition, for mobile users, the CaptureOnTouch Mobile App* allows users to scan documents using their iOS/Android smart devices and send them directly to Box to accommodate on-the-go scanning.

  • Financial Services & Insurance – A featured use case scenario on the show floor demonstrates how one financial services customer is using the combination of Canon and Box technology to empower branch office workers to securely access their content using their corporate credentials directly from Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE multifunction device.

  • Healthcare & Life Sciences – Patient images are a critical component of overall healthcare delivery. Leveraging Canon's EOS Digital SLR cameras and Connect Station in combination with Box, Canon will demonstrate how healthcare professionals can take patient photos uploading the images to Box to be viewed from anywhere via Box’s DICOM viewer. Canon’s DICOM compatible Connect Station converts captured images from standard JPG to DICOM format while supporting WiFi and Near Field Communication (NFC) for easy uploading of images from the camera to the connect station to the cloud.

“Canon is pleased to present a number of enterprise solutions at BoxWorks, to demonstrate the strength of our collaboration with Box and our dedication to develop benchmark solutions that maximize efficiency for a host of vertical markets,” said Tetsuhiro Minamide, President and CEO, Canon Information and Imaging Solutions. “We look forward to leveraging Canon capabilities and our partnership with Box, and continuing our commitment to our customers by driving workflow developments to support cloud-driven connected enterprises.”

“As a leading enterprise content platform, Box is transforming the way that people and organizations work so that they can achieve their greatest ambitions. Our partner ecosystem plays a huge role in this, and so we're thrilled to be working with Canon to create seamless new connections between our products that benefit our joint customers across the globe,” said Roger Murff, VP of Technology Partnerships, Box.
