Business in Bloom
For this project, I chose to tell the story of a woman-owned business. A simple story, but an important one. I very much believe that there is power in being a photographer. We have the power to tell people what we want them to look at. Having a choice in what I photograph means having the opportunity to tell a story that matters.
In my work, I am most interested in telling the stories that aren't as often told, but that I feel should be. There is a sea change happening in our society. I do believe that the future is female. And if that's where society is moving, that's where I want my camera to be.
When I share a series of images that make up a larger story, I like the viewer to walk away with an impression of how it felt. I want there to be a lasting impact. I am primarily interested in the emotion of a moment. I like to find the truest expression of it.
