I used the Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera on location at a botanical garden to shoot this image. I set the aperture on the Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8 II lens to wide open to give me subtle detail of the background and to help the subject really pop. I used an external flash and simple modifiers to create beautiful light on her face. This image was captured on Manual exposure, at 1/100th of a second @ f/2.8 at ISO 100.
Photography Tip:Carefully consider the use of color in all of your images! Color is an important element in setting the mood in a scene as well as directing the eye throughout the frame.
The headpiece was specifically made for this shoot, and the butterflies in the air around her were added in post-production to give a sense of energy to the frame. Careful styling of the clothing, props and model help establish a whimsical mood.
