Knowing that I had to shoot fast as we moved among the floating icebergs, I was prepared: I took only one camera body and one lens: My Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 24-105mm IS lens (my favorite lens).

Depth of field was important, so I shot on the Av mode, stopping down to get the entire scenes in focus. Due to the white ice, I shot with my histogram and highlight alert activated – making sure not to overexpose the highlights. Being prepared with the right gloves, hat and coat was also important. Cozy photographers are happy photographers.

I took many photographs that afternoon, I chose the images that I feel have impact, created by the beautiful ice sculptures, reflections and light.
