Support miniDV Camcorders

Features

Everything is going digital, and with good reason. Digital Video offers superior quality over the best analog camcorders, by 20% at least, and free from annoying color noise. The ZR10's images reach up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution, revealing stunning detail and clarity. The digital revolution is taking place, and Canon's Know-How is leading the way.
IEEE 1394 DV Terminal
These days, more of your friends will see your photos if you send them over the Internet than if you show them off in person. The ZR10 makes computer transfer easy, because it's equipped with a DV IN/OUT terminal that conforms to IEEE 1394 (FireWire¬)*. It takes just a single digital cable to copy your videos in pure digital form to another Canon DV camcorder or connect to a DV ready computer for editing and emailing pictures or video clips. And your still images can also be recorded to a floppy disk with the optional FR-100 Recorder, which easily transfers them to any PC. Then you can print out your images on a Canon color printer or send them with an email message, or post them to a web site.
*FireWire¬ is a registered trademark of Apple Computer Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
A football cutting through the chilly autumn air. A plane shooting overhead. A runner crossing the finish line. These are images you don't want to record in a shaky, jagged manner. And you don't always have a tripod handy. That's why the ZR10 has a high-quality image stabilization system that corrects camera shake instantly. Even on long telephoto shots there's no shake, no wobble, and no need for a tripod. When you show your video, let them think you're a pro.
Sometimes the greatest discoveries in life are waiting to be found; all you need is a little help. Well, the ZR10 gives you a lot of help. Its 10x Optical Zoom Lens can reveal detail on distant, faint objects, and in addition, the 200x Digital Zoom Lens makes those objects appear like they're sitting right in front of you. The scope from wide panorama to super telephoto will leave you breathless, and full of ideas and options.
Freedom. That's what you want in a camera. The freedom to shoot comfortably, flexibly, however you desire. The ZR10's 2.5" Viewscreen moves in any direction, so you can not only stand wherever you want, you can put the camera wherever you want. That way you always know exactly what you're getting. On the other hand, if you like to shoot things traditionally, or if it's too bright out, the Viewscreen tucks neatly away, allowing you to use a traditional eyecup viewfinder.
Why carry two cameras when you only need one? The ZR10 can be switched from a movie camera to a still camera with just a click of a button. And both modes are digital, of course, which makes your movies or photos those of the highest quality. Just another example of how Canon Know-How saves you space, time, and money. Normal Movie Mode
Okay future filmmaker, it's time to hop behind the ZR10 and show us what you're worth. Well, you may not make the equivalent of the latest box-office smash the first time you pick up the camera, but you may feel like you can do it. Fluid, smooth, controlled motion... the ability to edit your video, to add effects... and to make a picture that is crisp, vivid, and top-quality. Digital Photo Mode
How much does it cost to develop 700 pictures? The ZR10 has the ability to take 700 photos without needing to reload. Or you can take fewer pictures, and shoot movies between your still photos instead. Each still picture is recorded for six seconds so you can add surrounding sounds, or your own audio commentary.
So you're not quite sure what to do when confronted with different lighting circumstances, huh? Well, not to worry; the ZR10 will figure the situation out for you, even under the most challenging conditions. The automatic Easy Green Mode is suitable for most indoor and outdoor situations, but if you are in special lighting conditions, you can choose from the other programs: Sports, Portrait, Spotlight, Sand & Snow, and Low Light. All you have to do is relax, and shoot.
Spotlight

 Sand & Snow

Portrait

Sports

The ZR10 is fully automatic, but you may think you can do better. Either way, it's perfect when you know exactly what you want. You have the power of manual control over focus, exposure, white balance, and shutter speed.
The fun doesn't have to end when you stop recording. The ZR10 lets you be as creative as possible, long after your footage is shot. It includes a wide selection of digital effects to enhance visual appeal and add greater imaging variety. Digital Effects
Ask any professional, and they'll admit to you that special effects add value to any production. The ZR10's effects allow you to add variety to your video with Art, Black and White, Sepia, or Mosaic effects. Digital Faders
Fades to and from black add more poise and finesse to your video. The ZR10 allows you to choose from several different types of fades: Fade Trigger, Vertical Wipe, Horizontal Wipe, and Mosaic.
When you play back the videos that the ZR10 has recorded in its 16-bit mode, you're hearing higher than CD-quality sound. There's a 12-bit mode also, and it leaves two other channels free in order for you to add music or narration at a later date. So you can also add your own comments or add some background music.
Want to star in a movie with your favorite celebrity? The ZR10 can insert new scenes of video from your VCR or other camcorder on to a tape recorded in the SP mode. Using a recording made in the 12 bit audio mode, you can also add stereo sound from another audio source or through the internal or external microphone.
Time to transfer those old analog tapes. They're filled with memories. Transfer an analog video signal from your VCR, TV, or camcorder into the ZR10 and record it onto miniDV. You'll feel great afterwards, because you're preserving those precious originals for future generations.
