It's the first L-series lens to feature Canon's NANO USM for smooth, fast and nearly silent AF, and it offers amazing 5-stop* Image Stabilization for powerful performance while handheld and in low light.     Compact and Lightweight

    A dramatically compact 24–105mm f/4 lens, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM packs a broad zoom range and a bright maximum aperture into a well-balanced, refined design that balances comfortably on the EOS R camera's body.

    54mm Large Diameter and Short Back Focus

    The RF mount on the EOS R camera enables large diameter elements throughout the lens, including the rearmost element. This large diameter, coupled with the camera's short back focus (the distance from the back edge of the lens to the surface of the image sensor), helps increase the flexibility of optical design, resulting in incredible brightness and image quality and contributing to the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM's conveniently compact size without compromising performance.

    Ideal Zoom Range for All-day Photography

    With a zoom range encompassing wide angle, normal and telephoto, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM excels in a variety of shooting situations, offering amazing versatility with the turn of a zoom ring. For example, with the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM, the EOS R camera can go from shooting landscapes to interiors and portraits without a single lens change. In countless situations where the light and subject are constantly changing, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens is ready to go.

    Bright, Constant f/4 Zoom Lens

    The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features 3 aspheric and 1 UD lens element to help correct aberrations, distortion and astigmatism, delivering sharp and dynamic images with excellent detail and contrast across the image frame and throughout the zoom range. Plus, it has a 9-blade circular aperture for beautiful, soft backgrounds.

    High-speed Autofocus with NANO USM for Still Shooting

    The RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM uses Canon's NANO USM system for the first time in an L series lens. NANO USM combines conventional ring USM and STM (lead-screw type) AF, and features a diminutive chip-shaped ultrasonic motor that's engineered to help deliver high-speed, smooth, precise and near-silent operation, plus full time manual focus (when using One-shot AF).

    Smooth and Quiet Autofocus for Video Recording

    Another benefit of NANO USM is that it's nearly silent. This means smooth and silent AF transitions that are ideal for video recording.

    Control Ring for Direct Setting Changes

    The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens incorporates a control ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the front of the lens and effectively adding a third dial to the EOS R camera's main dial and quick control dial, the control ring has a tactile, easily distinguished surface and features a clicking mechanism that provides tangible feedback for confident use while looking through the viewfinder. For photographers and moviemakers who would prefer a silent control ring, the clicking mechanism can be removed by a Canon service provider for a fee.

    Optical Image Stabilization at up to 5 Stops* of Shake Correction

    The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens is designed to work in conjunction with the EOS R camera, with both the camera and the lens sharing data to dramatically reduce camera-shake blur, regardless of the situation, whether shooting video or stills. With up to 5 stops* of stabilization, it delivers impressively clear results.

    High-speed Communication with the EOS R Camera

    Designed to quickly process data, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM features a 12 pin communication system that is the fastest yet for a Canon lens/camera combination. This accelerates AF, Image Stabilization, the Digital Lens Optimizer and more, helping to simplify complex operations and provide a quick and reliable user experience.

    Lens Information Display

    Another helpful feature, the EOS R camera can display lens information right in the viewfinder, making it easy to confirm the lens's focal length without looking away from the subject at hand.

    In-camera Digital Lens Optimizer

    The EOS R system's 12 pin communication system enables the Digital Lens Optimizer, which works in-camera to combat aberrations and image deterioration, especially in the edges of the image frame when shooting at a large aperture. Data from the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens is transferred automatically to the camera body, facilitating near immediate correction for clear, detailed images.

    High Reliability and Durability for Professional Use

    Like all L series lenses, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens is built to endure the rigors of professional use. Constructed to be rugged, refined and precise, it can be operated intuitively so concentration can remain on the subject at hand.

    Vibration Shock Resistance

    Engineered to accommodate its optical system, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features L series level vibration shock resistance in the lens barrel, helping to maintain focus and settings even in turbulent situations.

    Dust- and Water-resistant

    For reliable performance even when weather conditions get difficult, the RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features dust- and water-resistant construction in the lens mount, switch panel and all rings.

    Fluorine Coating

    The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features fluorine coatings on the front and rearmost surfaces to help prevent dirt and dust from sticking to the lens, making it easy to clean smudges and fingerprints off.

    Air Sphere Coating (ASC) Minimizes Lens Flare and Ghosting

    The RF 24–105mm F4 L IS USM lens features Canon's Air Sphere Coating (ASC), which significantly reduces the occurrence of lens flare and ghosting regardless of focal length or the angle of light. This helps provide clean results with minimal distractions and aberrations.

    MTF Charts

    A Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) chart measures a lens’ expected optical performance at the center of the picture area and measures repeatedly along the diagonal line, further and further toward the corners of the image. The higher a curve is shown on the chart, the better the lens is performing in the area the chart is measuring. As a curve moves from left to right, it displays the lens' results from center towards the corners.
