Features

The VB-H41 is able to deliver superb visual quality and image consistency thanks to the brilliant lens technology Canon brings to its 20x Optical Zoom lens. Not only will you have a superb view of your surveillance area, you'll have high speed, highly accurate zoom and focus from the 60.4º wide-angle to the 3.2º telephoto. This lens delivers clear, sharp images throughout the zoom range.

Third party integration is simple with the VB-H41 because it is ONVIF version 2.2 and Profile S conformant. As many system installations must be customized with products from different manufacturers, this allows the VB-H41 to be seamlessly included in such systems and permits the use of third party recording software systems. The ONVIF Profile S allows for easy identification of supported features without needing to know the compatibility of the different versions of ONVIF and includes specific features such as audio streaming and relay outputs.

"ONVIF" and HTML5 are trademarks of ONVIF Inc.

The 2.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor of the VB-H41 helps ensure maximum image quality, a hallmark of Canon products. Its approximately 2.1 million pixels deliver sharp, high resolution video with far greater detail than that of a VGA camera for clearer, more useful video monitoring.

The VB-H41's class leading image capture technology allows the camera to capture color video down to an impressive 0.01 Lux* and black & white video down to a remarkable 0.001 Lux*. You will see the incredible clarity of the video captured in even the most challenging low light conditions, indoors or outside at night. Adding to the low-light capability is the Auto Gain Control Limit, which allows the adjustment of digital gain to the maximum level when using auto exposure in low light environments.

* Ratings based on F1.6, 1/2 second and Smart Shade Control on.

The VB-H41 is packed with features which enhance its functionality and usability. Among the most useful are its sophisticated On-board Video Analytics, enabling the camera to detect Moving, Abandoned, or Removed Objects in its range of vision, and also detect attempts at Camera Tampering and changes in Sound Levels. In addition, Passing Detection has been added to the list to enhance the monitoring capabilities of the VB-H41, allowing you to define a line to trigger an alert when it is passed in a defined direction.

For increased control in monitoring sensitive areas, the VB-H41 also offers a Privacy Mask function. With it, you can block specific sections of the camera's field of view, to avoid intrusions of privacy, or password theft - even while executing P/T/Z operations.

Thanks to the VB-H41's impressive algorithm, highly precise detection is achieved using polygonal and rectangular shapes to specify up to 15 areas of detection. Adding polygonal to rectangular shapes allows for increased flexibility in detection areas. An additional benefit comes from the provision for notification of a detection through the network from the camera using a number of functions. They include automatic recording, e-mail transmission, and uploading videos and images to a specified target server. It is also possible to combine a number of detection functions for simultaneous notification.

One of the reasons Canon's VB-H41 is set apart from other security monitoring cameras is the high quality of its images. Canon's own processing technologies, the latest version of our hardware-based encryption and compression engine, DIGIC NET II, and our sophisticated image processor, DIGIC DV III, give the VB-H41 an advantage that is easy to see. DIGIC NET II is a powerful processor that allows the VB-H41 to simultaneously deliver both H.264 and JPEG video in high resolution 1920 x 1080 at the maximum frame rate of 30fps – with no loss in frame rate, unlike many competing models. DIGIC DV III is employed in our class-leading video camcorders and unlike the image processing used in most security cameras, DIGIC DV III provides superior image quality with lifelike colors, tonal accuracy and reduced image noise - all with lower power consumption.

The H.264 Codec of the VBH41 maximizes both image quality and data storage with superb image compression that delivers high resolution images with small data size. With low bandwidth utilization the benefits are obvious, giving you infrastructure cost savings as well as reduced data storage capability needs foremost while still delivering the best in video images. Adjustable I-frame intervals allow for maximum flexibility in bandwidth and storage utilization.

1920 x 1080, 960 x 540, 470 x 270

The Image Stabilization feature works to compensate for image blur caused by camera vibrations or movement. This is useful against building vibration or strong winds, as may occur when the camera is installed on an outdoor pole. Two levels of electronic image stabilization are fitted to the VB-H41 camera to accommodate varying levels of movement intensity.

Smart Shade Control, or SSC, is an exclusive Canon technology that automatically adjusts images which may have a bright background by adjusting the gain of the underexposed areas without affecting the exposure of the properly exposed areas. This feature helps to make backlit images easier to see and vital areas of interest easier to monitor.

As the available light changes, the Auto Day/Night feature allow this camera to automatically adjust to maintain optimal image quality. A removable IR cut filter and optimized IR light reflection suppression coating allows for exceptional low light visibility with minimal ghosting.

For added ease in control of the VB-HM41, the camera supports the optional third-party Joysticks for controlling Pan/Tilt/Zoom and Presets.

The VB-H41 gives you great installation flexibility as it will accept a variety of power options. Whether your situation works best with 12vDC, 24vAC or Power over Ethernet, it will accommodate your needs. The low power consumption of the VB-H41 allows the use of standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af), enabling a single LAN cable to both power the camera and transfer video and audio data. Connecting to a Power over Ethernet switch or injector eliminates the need to run AC connections to installation sites of the cameras. This can help keep installation costs to a minimum.

With the VB-H41, the Mic/Line In and Line Out jack allows you to have two-way audio communication between the remote monitoring center and the surveillance location. This feature turns the VB-H41 into an even more valuable part of your surveillance system.

The VB-H41 has a built-in SD Memory Card slot which supports SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards. It allows streamed images from the camera to be saved to an SD card, giving reliable backup in the event of network power failures or outages. In addition, when issues occur, system logs are also created and stored on the SD card for future troubleshooting.

An administrative tool, Recorded Video Tool allows you to search, download and view the recorded video.

The VB-H41 supports the receiving of IPv6 network configuration information from DHCPv6 servers. Adoption of this latest protocol makes this camera an integral part of any system which will see development or expansion going forward as IPv4 will eventually be replaced with IPv6.

Canon's proprietary recording software is included at no cost with the purchase of the VB-H41. A limited function version of the RM-9/25/64 recording software, which is available for purchase, RM-Lite 2.0 allows for the monitoring of JPEG and H.264 video, and the recording and playback of the JPEG video from up to four cameras. This complimentary software is well suited for small systems and eliminates the need to purchase software separately.
