Clear video, even from long distances, can be captured thanks to the advanced optical technologies and high level of magnification of this Genuine Canon 20x Optical Zoom Lens. The optical zoom function uses a mechanical lens adjustment to increase the size of the subject or area of interest by up to 20 times allowing for greater image detail and clarity. Unlike digital zoom, optical zoom typically results in a clean image that is virtually free from pixilation and blurring.
The 1/3" high-sensitivity CMOS sensor processes and transmits 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) video helping to capture finer details, even in challenging low-light conditions, which is critical for subject identification and other important security matters.
This camera's low-light performance is enhanced by Built-in Infrared (IR) Illuminators that can be activated to enable the capture of bright, useful video throughout the entire field of view - even in areas where there is little to no visible light. This feature can allow for low-light visibility at 0.0 lux from significant distances. IR illuminator operation requires either a 24 V AC or PoE+ power source.
The VB-H761LVE has four built-in IR emitters (1 IR light for wide-angle visibility, 1 IR light for mid-range visibility, and two IR lights for long-range visibility) that allow for the delivery of virtually clear video in complete darkness from a distance of up to 196 ft.
An IP66 Rating means that the unit is both water resistant to powerful streams of water and dust tight, thus allowing this camera to be installed outdoors without the need for any additional protective equipment. (Not appropriate for underwater submersion).
This camera was built with two vandal resistant elements to help ensure safety from impact and tampering. The enclosure has an IK09 rating, which specifies withstanding up to 10 joules of impact resistance, roughly the equivalent of a 10 pound bowling ball being dropped on it from a distance of 7 inches. In addition, the enclosure is equipped with tamper-resistant screws to help prevent entry into and removal of the unit.
This camera is NEMA 250 Type 4x certified which specifies resistance to frost and corrosion. This certification gives the installer peace of mind when mounting this camera in locations, such as ports and other areas near salt water, that are prone to frost and/or corrosion.
This camera has a built-in heater that allows it to operate in extremely cold environments with temperatures as low as -58°F. With its cold startup feature, when the camera is initially powered on the heater will be activated to warm up the camera to its minimum startup temperature. Once the camera reaches a safe level of warmth, all remaining systems will power on and the camera will function within the allowable temperature range of -58°F to +131°F. The built-in heater can be operated with an AC or PoE+ power source.

Smart Shade Control analyzes and selectively adjusts the exposure in overexposed and darkened areas.

White Balance settings can be adjusted in order to compensate for different types of lighting to ensure color-accurate images.
For maximized image quality, Canon has incorporated the same DIGIC DV III Image Processor used in many of its high-end DSLR cameras in order to reproduce video with life-like colors, tonal accuracy, smooth gradation and reduced noise. Unlike other cameras that rely on a shared processor for image quality and compression, Canon network cameras are engineered with a DIGIC DV III Image Processor solely dedicated to maximizing image quality.
Canon's DIGIC DV III Image Processor is a high-speed engine with maximum processing power which helps to optimize overall video quality with:

This camera has a one-way moisture release vent that allows for efficient disposal of any excess moisture that builds up in the enclosure. A blower will circulate air throughout the inside of the enclosure, simultaneously removing excess moisture. This feature helps ensure that the viewing surface of the enclosure will not fog up and contributes to the long life-span of this unit.
The Enhanced Digital Zoom function can be used to get even closer to the subject without loss of video quality when optical zoom is not enough. With this feature, the camera streams a lower resolution digital crop of the original video, as opposed to digital zoom which manipulates the image to make the subject appear larger by increasing pixel sizes and reducing image quality. Enhanced Digital Zoom typically produces a higher-quality image than digital zoom while significantly lowering the amount of bandwidth and storage space needed to transmit and retain the video.
Image Stabilization is an optional feature that can be used to help reduce motion blur caused by wind or mechanical vibration. The camera calculates the amount of vibration being experienced both horizontally and vertically and stabilizes the image by digitally removing pixels, which results in capturing video with minimized motion blurring.
Motion Adaptive Noise Reduction helps reduce overall bandwidth consumption and lower the costs associated with transmitting data, while providing clean images in low light areas where motion is detected. Areas without motion receive added noise reduction thus minimizing bandwidth consumption, while areas with motion receive a smaller amount of noise reduction resulting in greater visual clarity for optimized monitoring and surveillance.
Area-Specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR) is an optional function that allows users to reduce bandwidth consumption and video storage space requirements, thus lessening the need for expensive networking and storage equipment. The reduction in bandwidth and storage is achieved by defining up to eight specific areas in the camera's field of view which are most critical and where high video quality must be maintained, while video quality in the rest of the camera's field of view is lowered.
Clear IR Mode uses an Infrared Bandpass Filter (IRBPF) that only permits infrared light to pass through to the image sensor, blocking visible light in order to achieve greater visibility and image sharpness in the presence of IR lighting. This added filter helps to reduce haze, shimmering, blurring and aberrations caused by visible light so that fine details can be discernable in the resulting video*. This is useful in applications such as license plate recognition where bright vehicle headlights can potentially blind the camera.
*As with Night Mode, the resulting video from Clear IR Mode will be monochrome.
A host of intelligent On-board Video Analytics have been built into the camera to aid in analyzing video content for the purposes of identifying and alerting potentially critical situations. For maximum flexibility, detection characteristics (sensitivity, area and duration) can be finely tuned by users to allow for precise event detection by the camera, while notification tools can alert the correct parties to help expedite response time. In addition, costly storage space can be saved by using these On-board Video Analytics as triggers to start recording so that the camera does not have to continuously record during all hours of the day.
Moving Object Detection - used to detect moving objects, such as persons or vehicles, in predefined areas such as hallways and parking lots.
Abandoned Object Detection - used to identify motionless objects that have been left behind by a moving object such as a suspicious package placed on a city street.
Removed Object Detection - used to identify the removal of a static object from a designated area, such as a priceless painting in a museum/gallery.
Camera Tampering Detection - used to detect the tampering of a camera such as redirection, blocking, defocusing, or even spray paint.
Passing Detection - used to detect when a moving object passes through the camera's field of view in a specified direction, such as an individual entering into a restricted area from the exit doorway.
Intrusion Detection - used to identify when a moving object enters and remains in a specified area for a period of time deemed unacceptable, such as an individual stepping over a partition in a museum.
The Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) is a growing industry standard that promotes interoperability of security devices and eliminates the need for custom drivers. This network camera supports ONVIF Profile S which helps ensure that basic features such as video streaming, pan / tilt / zoom control, audio streaming and more, will work properly with a wide array of VMS systems. This camera also supports ONVIF Profile G which specifies SD card recording, searching and streaming compatibility.
Camera Viewer with Mobile Device Support allows user to access the camera's functionality from any location via the web browser on their PC or mobile device. The "Mobile Viewer" interface is designed to provide easy control of the essential functions necessary to operate the camera (video stream, pan/tilt/zoom control, presets, exposure settings, etc.) via the touch screens of mobile iOS or Android devices. Installers can also quickly configure their camera at the installation site and remotely control it.
The network camera accepts 24 V AC, 12 V DC, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and PoE+ offering flexibility when it comes to power sources in the installation environment.
This optional feature allows cameras to be installed in areas even if there are restrictions on what can be recorded, as a digital mask can be applied to up to 8 sections within the camera's field of view. This prevents the user from seeing any sensitive material that may be behind the masked area, such as an ATM machine displaying banking information.
