Features

An Advanced Lens with large aperture ratio range of F1.8 (W) to F2.4 (T) and focal length range of 17.7mm - 88.5mm works in combination with a high sensitivity sensor to achieve exceptional low-light clarity even at long distances. The large aperture allows greater quantities of light to hit the high-sensitivity sensor resulting in video with exceptional color in low light at both the wide and telephoto ends of the zoom range.

Fast and Precise Pan / Tilt Mechanism allows for 300°/second panning and tilting speeds when moving between presets. This enables video of the desired areas to be taken with as little delay as possible which can allow security personnel to more rapidly respond to situations.

This camera is equipped with a motorized pan/tilt function and a 5x Optical Zoom Lens for accurate subject tracking and zooming in on a subject while retaining high image quality. The capability to save up to 64 preset pan/tilt/zoom positions, which can then be later recalled, helps eliminate the time required to move between positions.

64 Preset Positions with 5 Preset Tour Routes allows users to automate camera movement to different areas of interest at different times of the day in order to cover more area with a single camera. This model will support creation of up to 64 preset camera positions and scheduling of up to 5 preset tour routes*.

The camera will internally save the desired pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) position of the camera so that the user can choose to easily return to that position at a later occasion without having to manually adjust the PTZ positions of the camera each time.

Also included in the presets are Focus Mode, Exposure, Slow Shutter, White Balance, Clear IR Mode, Day/Night, and other settings in order to save the user from having to make frequent manual adjustments to these camera controls.

Preset tour routes program the camera to constantly move between different presets in sequence. The speed of movement between each preset can also be precisely configured to ensure proper monitoring of an entire area.

*If the durability limit for the pan/tilt operations is exceeded, the motors may need to be replaced

High-Sensitivity CMOS Sensor helps to deliver outstanding color and clarity even in challenging low-light conditions. In conjunction with the camera's Genuine Canon lens and DIGIC DV III image processor - the High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor make it possible to capture video footage in light levels of less than 0.01 lux.

Clear IR Mode uses an Infrared Bandpass Filter (IRBPF) that only permits infrared light to pass through to the image sensor, blocking visible light in order to achieve greater visibility and image sharpness in the presence of IR lighting. This added filter helps to reduce haze, shimmering, blurring and aberrations caused by visible light so that fine details can be discernable in the resulting video*. This is useful in applications such as license plate recognition where bright vehicle headlights can potentially blind the camera.

*As with Night Mode, the resulting video from Clear IR Mode will be monochrome.

Image Stabilization is an optional feature that can be used to help reduce motion blur caused by wind or mechanical vibration. The camera calculates the amount of vibration being experienced both horizontally and vertically and stabilizes the image by digitally removing pixels, which results in capturing video with minimized motion blurring.

This network camera is equipped with an impressive selection of video capture settings that can be tailored to better accommodate environmental lighting changes, such as shifts in sunlight direction and during the transitions between day and night. Users are able to define presets that include settings such as shutter speed, gain, aperture, white balance, day/night mode and more in addition to the camera's pan/tilt/zoom position. These presets can be recalled on a schedule or can tie-in with the camera's automatic day/night switch options to help ensure high-quality video even in situations with varying ambient light conditions.

For maximized image quality, Canon has incorporated the same DIGIC DV III Image Processor used in many of its high-end DSLR cameras in order to reproduce video with life-like colors, tonal accuracy, smooth gradation and reduced noise. Unlike other cameras that rely on a shared processor for image quality and compression, Canon network cameras are engineered with a DIGIC DV III Image Processor solely dedicated to maximizing image quality.

Canon's DIGIC DV III Image Processor is a high-speed engine with maximum processing power which helps to optimize overall video quality with:

  • Vivid, life-like color reproduction and image clarity
  • Rich, smooth gradations
  • Drastically reduced image noise

DIGIC NET II Processor is a powerful and efficient compression, encryption, and transmission processor that gives Canon Network Cameras the ability to simultaneously deliver standard HD (1280 x 960) video at 30 frames per second in both M-JPEG and H.264 codecs. Users have the flexibility of streaming multiple resolutions of M-JPEG and H.264, all while minimizing power consumption. In situations where remote cameras are using cellular data, users can potentially realize substantial savings in data charges.

Area-Specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR) is an optional function that allows users to reduce bandwidth consumption and video storage space requirements, thus lessening the need for expensive networking and storage equipment. The reduction in bandwidth and storage is achieved by defining up to eight specific areas in the camera's field of view which are most critical and where high video quality must be maintained, while video quality in the rest of the camera's field of view is lowered.

Motion Adaptive Noise Reduction helps reduce overall bandwidth consumption and lower the costs associated with transmitting data, while providing clean images in low light areas where motion is detected. Areas without motion receive added noise reduction thus minimizing bandwidth consumption, while areas with motion receive a smaller amount of noise reduction resulting in greater visual clarity for optimized monitoring and surveillance.

A host of intelligent On-board Video Analytics have been built into the camera to aid in analyzing video content for the purposes of identifying and alerting potentially critical situations. For maximum flexibility, detection characteristics (sensitivity, area and duration) can be finely tuned by users to allow for precise event detection by the camera, while notification tools can alert the correct parties to help expedite response time. In addition, costly storage space can be saved by using these On-board Video Analytics as triggers to start recording so that the camera does not have to continuously record during all hours of the day.


Moving Object Detection - used to detect moving objects, such as persons or vehicles, in predefined areas such as hallways and parking lots.


Abandoned Object Detection - used to identify motionless objects that have been left behind by a moving object such as a suspicious package placed on a city street.


Removed Object Detection - used to identify the removal of a static object from a designated area, such as a priceless painting in a museum/gallery.


Camera Tampering Detection - used to detect the tampering of a camera such as redirection, blocking, defocusing, or even spray paint.


Passing Detection - used to detect when a moving object passes through the camera's field of view in a specified direction, such as an individual entering into a restricted area from the exit doorway.


Intrusion Detection - used to identify when a moving object enters and remains in a specified area for a period of time deemed unacceptable, such as an individual stepping over a partition in a museum.

The Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF) is a growing industry standard that promotes interoperability of security devices and eliminates the need for custom drivers. This network camera supports ONVIF Profile S which helps ensure that basic features such as video streaming, pan / tilt / zoom control, audio streaming and more, will work properly with a wide array of VMS systems. This camera also supports ONVIF Profile G which specifies SD card recording, searching and streaming compatibility.

Camera Viewer with Mobile Device Support allows user to access the camera's functionality from any location via the web browser on their PC or mobile device. The "Mobile Viewer" interface is designed to provide easy control of the essential functions necessary to operate the camera (video stream, pan/tilt/zoom control, presets, exposure settings, etc.) via the touch screens of mobile iOS or Android devices. Installers can also quickly configure their camera at the installation site and remotely control it.

The Low Power Consumption offered by this camera helps reduce the potential occurrence of overheating and failure. In addition, overall system power requirements are lessened, potentially giving the user the ability to save on energy, back-end equipment and hardware costs while lowering environmental impact.

The Built-in SD Card Slot, which supports SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards, provides temporary secondary storage for video data and camera logs. In addition, the memory card recording can be used in remote deployments to reduce the amount of additional hardware needed to store video.

Live images and H.264 video can be saved to the memory card during network outages, event triggers, at scheduled times and manually via the Camera Viewer. When issues occur, system logs can also be created on the memory card for future troubleshooting.

The Recorded Video Utility allows for searching, downloading and viewing the recorded video and the Canon Camera Management Tool allows for backing up and restoring camera settings to/from the memory card.

An optional "Auto Video Delete" feature allows the user to define a retention period for recorded videos (up to 90 days).

This network camera accepts 24 V AC, 12 V DC and Power over Ethernet (PoE) offering flexibility when it comes to utilizing power sources available at the installation location.

This network camera can be installed in environments where a high level of network security is of extreme importance. It supports IEEE802.1X authentication, which provides additional network security with port-based access control that helps ensure only authorized client devices are connected to the network. In addition, IPSec is used to encrypt all packets of IP data sent over the network and SSL/TLS is used to safeguard data by encrypting sensitive information transmitted between a client and an application.

I/O support can be used to move the camera to a particular position or trigger an alarm when a door is opened or closed. An external microphone and speakers can be attached to this network camera so that the operator can hear what is going on at the camera location as well as playback audio files to people at that site.

CCMT provides a powerful, single unified method of configuring and managing all Canon network cameras on the local network. CCMT not only saves valuable time by streamlining the initial camera configuration, but greatly simplifies the management of an entire Canon network camera deployment. This tool supports network settings configuration, batch firmware upgrades, settings backup/restore, modifying video stream settings, and more.
