Features
--> Eye-opening 4K resolution produces incredibly detailed, high-impact images that are significantly sharper and more true-to-life than lower resolutions.
At 4096 x 2160, Canon's 4K resolution generates a bigger, richer picture made up of more than 8.8 million pixels, meeting the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) standard for 4K cinema as well as the QFHD standard resolution (3840 x 2160) for 4K TV. In comparison to popular Full HD (1920 x 1080), the REALiS 4K6020Z laser projector's native 4K resolution produces four times the resolution.
This high resolution can help in a variety of applications ranging from viewing highly detailed works of art in a museum or gallery, to producing highly accurate video and images with a wide depth-of-field to get as close as possible to a real-life experience via a simulation system.
*4 This is an estimated value. Actual hours may vary depending on usage and environment. This is not a guarantee of the life span of individual laser diodes.
*5 Air vents should not be blocked. Install in a stable and safe manner.
Canon's LCOS panels are relatively small in size, allowing for an overall compact projector that delivers high-resolution and high-quality results. With the LCOS panels, the pixels are close together, producing images that are virtually seamless, where with other technologies there may be grid lines visible from their larger spaces between pixels. The result with this projector is an exceptional 4K resolution picture with crisp detail and true-to-life color.
*11 This function should only be used when variation in gradation properties or achromatic colors become noticeably different from time of purchase.
Multiple Image Modes
Image Modes provide different variations of color reproduction characteristics suitable for the image type and projection environment. They include:
Standard: Suitable for viewing still images and TV broadcast under slightly suppressed lighting.
Presentation: Ideal for somewhat bright rooms when text needs to be clear, such as when part of a video presentation.
Dynamic: Ideal for rooms that are somewhat bright, and when showing motion picture content.
Photo/sRGB: Ideal for projecting colors in the sRGB standard.
Video: Ideal for rooms that are somewhat dark, and for HDR video content.
5 Customizable Modes: Ideal for custom set-ups. Provides up to 5 user-selected combinations of image quality settings that can be stored in the memory and selected as an image mode.
DICOM® Simulation Mode*8: Ideal for displaying medical images in non-diagnostic settings. Both Blue Base and Clear Base settings are supported.
*8 This projector includes a DICOM® Simulation Mode. It has not been cleared or approved for medical diagnosis and should not be used for these purposes.
Image Adjustments
The Image Adjustment settings allow users to customize the image and color characteristics to fulfill their specific imaging needs. These include:
Brightness
Contrast
Sharpness
Gamma
Color Adjustments Color Level Color Balance Color Temperature Gain (RGB) Offset (RGB)
Advanced Image Adjustments These adjustments provide greater flexibility to professional users with more options to adjust the image as desired. These settings include:
Dynamic Contrast: A function that determines the brightness of scenes by looking to the histogram of the image signal and then controls the light source and gradation performance based on that information. This function, when applied, expresses up to a 20,000:1 contrast ratio—producing clear contrast even in dark scenes. Frame Lock*12: In order to prevent synchronization errors caused by frame rate gaps between the input source and the LCOS panel drive, this feature synchronizes the input signal of different display devices with the projector resulting in smooth image playback. Colorimetry: Three color standard presets (BT.709, BT.2020 and Auto) enable users to optimize the color output of the image content. Ambient Light: This technology allows the user to select the color temperature and other characteristics that are in the active environment. Random Noise Reduction: This feature eliminates minute noise that may appear in the image. Digital Noise Reduction: This feature eliminates block noise that may appear when playing back compressed digital images and "mosquito noise" that may appear in a dot pattern near the edges. Dynamic Gamma: When applied, this feature analyzes individual areas of the image for specific, independent contrast adjustment so light and dark areas do not appear over or under exposed. Memory Color Correction: This Canon technology can be used to enhance skin tones and other color features for rich, vivid results that look striking to the human eye. 6-Axis Color Adjust: This technology lets users fine-tune the hue, saturation and brightness of each of the primary and secondary colors, providing a high degree of control that can make each projected image a "masterpiece". Fine-tune Gamma: This setting enables the adjustment of gamma curve, allowing the user to adjust white, red, green and blue.
*12 Please see user manual for supported frequencies this function can be utilized with.
Furthermore, light emission in the following ranges can be adjusted in the Brightness Level function when Operating Mode is not set to Normal. Operating Mode Light Source Output Fixed Brightness 20% 70% Longer Duration 1 20% 70% Longer Duration 2 20% 50% * Values for non-standard light source output and brightness are approximations.
Light Source Mode To reduce projector noise and cooling fan speed, different light modes can be selected. Setting Light Source Output Brightness Noise Level Normal 100% 6000 lumens 38 dB Quiet 1 70% 3600 lumens 33 dB Quiet 2 50% 2400 lumens 29 dB * Values for non-standard light source output and brightness are approximations.
Position Lock This feature ensures specific installation settings such as Image Flip, Keystone Correction and Lens Position are not accidentally disturbed, saving users time from the inconvenience of reconfiguration. Menu Rotation This feature enhances portrait projection, allowing adjustment of the angle of the projector's menu up to 90 degrees left and right. Sensors within the projector sense the angle of the projector and flip the image accordingly in increments of 90 degrees. 4-point Keystone Correction
Allows the corners of the image to be independently adjusted to help ensure optimal image reproduction. Lens Position
Up to 3 different custom lens presets can be stored and memorized. Each preset includes information for a variety of lens settings. Zoom Focus Lens Shift Lens Shift Mode Keystone 4-point Keystone Correction Screen Color Adjustment (Normal, Blackboard, etc.) Reduction Zoom
This is especially convenient for digital signage as this projector makes it easy to switch from one signage set-up to another. The lens presets can also be of use in education where the presets can be used to quickly change the settings from projecting on a screen to the settings needed for projecting on a blackboard. Screen Color Correction
Enables users to fine-tune the colors of images based on the color of the projection surface. Adjustments can be made from Normal and Greenboard, as well as additional tuning for projecting onto virtually any other colored surface.
Test Patterns
Up to 28 test patterns are provided to enable smooth installation and adjustment.
If the projector sits in high land over 2300 meters above sea level, High Altitude mode enables faster fan speeds to prevent overheating. Edge Blending
The Edge Blending function enables the user to combine multiple images to create seamless, extra-wide projection. Advanced functions allow for color blending and black level adjustments to maximize image quality. Micro-Digital Image Shift
The Micro-Digital Image Shift function shifts the image electrically, using the surplus pixels on the LCOS panel. Registration
The Registration function modifies the registration by electronically correcting color shift due to changes in alignment of each RGB panel position.
Multiple power-management settings also help to conserve projector life, allowing the user to preset stand-by durations and execute power on and off operations all with the benefit of a Real-Time Clock, accessible via Web UI or internal GUI.
