Features

The LX-MU800Z's laser light source provides large venues with up to 20,000 hours of continuous, reliable, high-quality projection – many times longer than a conventional lamp's life. Because there are no lamps or filters to replace, there is virtually no maintenance required and downtime is minimal. This keeps running costs relatively low when looking at the total life of the product – a key consideration for challenging and hard-to-reach installations, such as auditoriums and lecture halls or hard-to-access digital signage sites.

This projector projects a bright 8000 lumen picture with up to a 10,500:1*1 contrast ratio that helps ensure deep blacks, bright whites and outstanding color. The results are images with crisp depth and dimension, and amazing color accuracy, which is critical to those with discerning needs.

Canon's WUXGA resolution brings bright, true widescreen display of intricately detailed HD video content and still images with outstanding color richness to large-room installations in high resolution WUXGA (1920 x 1200) at a competitive price. Content is projected without compression. Widescreen graphics, text and other visual content from laptops and desktop computers are shown in accurate proportions, just as it appears on most monitor screens.

This projector utilizes Single-chip Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology which is a widely utilized projection technology that creates natural and lifelike images. The DLP technology utilizes a reflective Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) to produce video and images with high brightness. The resulting high-resolution video and images maintain the details inherent in what you are showing.

This projector is up to the challenges of a variety of installation applications given the wide assortment of optional lenses available to help achieve optimal image quality. The eight interchangeable lens options range from a Short Fixed Lens to an Ultra Long Zoom Lens, covering a variety of throw ratios. Screen sizes up to 500-inches*5 are possible with this projector. Please refer to the chart below for the throw ratio, zoom ratio, lens shift and screen sizes available with each optional lens.

For added convenience, this model features a quick release button to quickly install and uninstall lenses.

This projector is equipped with a built-in HDBaseT receiver facilitating uncompressed HD video, audio and control signals to be transmitted over one single LAN cable with a maximum distance of 100m. This reduces complex wiring schemes used for a typical setup as well as maximizing long cable runs with minimal image quality degradation.

HDBaseT operation may vary when connected to other third-party HDBaseT devices. Please consult with a Canon representative for a full compatibility list.

Portrait Projection*2
This projector can be positioned on its side so that images more suited to portrait projection*2 can be optimally displayed. This is a useful feature for sales promotion, digital signage, museums and art galleries.

360-degree Vertical Installation*8
Setting up the LX-MU800Z is convenient with 360 degrees of rotation that accommodates any angle on the vertical axis. This supports a wide range of installation options, including table and ceiling as well as rear facing, front and down positions. An included High Altitude Mode increases fan speed for maximum efficiency.

Motorized Lens Shift
Motorized vertical and horizontal lens shift allows for adjustment of the image with virtually no distortion. Most lenses can shift up to 0–50% vertically*9,10 and ±10% horizontally*9,10. This model is also equipped with motorized zoom and focus – all of which can be adjusted through the included remote control.

Lens Position Memory
Up to 8 different custom lens presets can be stored and memorized. Each preset includes information for a variety of lens settings such as lens shift, lens zoom and focal length. This makes it easy to switch from one projection set-up to another.

For added convenience, other standard lens settings are also included, such as a Center Lens setting that moves the lens shift, zoom ratio and focal length of the lens to the center position.

Test Patterns
10 test patterns are provided to enable smooth installation and adjustment.

Rotation
The LX-MU800Z allows the projected image to be rotated up to 25 degrees clockwise or anticlockwise without losing any part of the picture.

H/V Alignment
This keystone adjustment feature allows correction of trapezoid-shaped projections so that viewers can see a clearly aligned square-shaped image. It's possible to make adjustments horizontally and vertically to achieve optimum positioning with no need to physically move the projector.

4-point Keystone Correction
Additional installation convenience is provided by 4-point Keystone Correction, which includes independent corner image adjustments to accurately correct for situations in which the position of the projector may be slightly angled with respect to the projection screen. This feature is also critical for applications that require precise projection stacking.

Edge Blending
The Edge Blending function enables the user to combine multiple images to create a seamless, extra-wide projection. Advanced functions allow for color blending and black level adjustments to maximize image quality.

Brightness Adjustments
Brightness can be adjusted for different environments, source material and individual preferences. Precise corrections can be made easily by remote control in a range of approximately 20% to 100% with adjustment of light source power*11 by 1%. This feature ensures seamless brightness when combining two projected images into one with Edge Blending.

This projector includes pre-set Image Modes and additional customizable Image Modes to suit a wide range of user preferences and projection environments.

Multiple Image Modes*12

Image Modes provide different variations of color reproduction characteristics suitable for the image type and projection environment. They include:

Standard: Ideal for bright rooms, and when using content from computer screens or motion picture content.

Presentation: Ideal for somewhat bright rooms when text needs to be clear, such as when part of a video presentation.

Video: Ideal for rooms that are somewhat dark, and for video content.

This projector offers extensive image quality adjustments to help users customize the image to meet their specific projection needs.

Image Adjustments
The Image Adjustment settings allow users to customize the image and color characteristics to fulfill their specific imaging needs. These include:

Brightness
Contrast
Sharpness
Gamma
Noise Reduction
White Gain
Offset (RGB)
Dynamic Black
Color Adjustments

• Color Temperature (Native, 5400K, 6500K, 9300K)
• White Balance (RGB Offset, RGB Gain)
• Hue
• Saturation
• Gain (RGBCMY)
• White Gain (RGB)

Power Mode
Allows the user to select either Full Power to project images at full brightness, or Power Saver which reduces lamp brightness to save energy. A Custom Power Level mode is also available, allowing the user to maximize TCO by adjusting power to their preferences.

This projector includes a built-in HDBaseT receiver so uncompressed HD video, audio and control signals can be transmitted over one single LAN cable up to a maximum distance of 100m. This reduces complex wiring and maximizes long cable runs with minimal image quality degradation. Other connections include: 3G-SDI, HDMI and DVI-D, for sending and receiving large data volumes to support various applications that surpass standard HDTV, such as high-definition display devices and 3D displays; as well as a VGA connector, 5-BNC connectors and a LAN connection terminal for wired transmission of image and audio signals from a PC. Industry-standard control and networking inputs include a network-ready RJ-45 port enabling authorized users to manage and control multiple projectors from any PC on a network (Gigabit data transfer speeds are supported), an RS-232 serial connection for monitoring the projector locally through a third-party control system; a mini-jack that provides a trigger for screen operation and a mini-jack for connecting an optional hand-held wired remote controller.

Compatibility with Crestron, AMX Device Discovery and Extron helps ensure seamless integration into most systems or infrastructures and smooth network management. Support for PJLink also makes it possible to control and monitor the projector over a network – this feature is ideal for observing lamp hours, usage and much more.
