The highly portable and convenient design of the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display makes it well suited for a wide variety of on-set cinema uses or as a 4K UHD program monitor in the control rooms of mobile sports and event-production trucks.
The display measures approximately 23.4" x 15.7" x 7.4" (WxDxH) and is built with a sturdy metal frame- but weighs only about 26 pounds. The display also features a carrying handle, an integrated control panel, solid metal frame, adjustable feet and inputs for 24V DC battery power (or 100-240V AC).
The display is great for live on-set "video village" picture monitoring, focus checking, and angle-of-view confirmation.
Equipped with four 3G/HD-SDI inputs and outputs, an HDMI input supported 4K 60P, and an Ethernet port, the DP-V2410 display can also be used for on-set color-grading, editing, and for viewing dailies. The bright, clear display capabilities of the DP-V2410 also make it well suited as a 4K location display for broadcast sports commentators and other on-air talent.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is equipped with a 24-inch IPS (In-Plane Switching) LCD panel that outputs a resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels. This 10-bit panel provides a wide viewing angle that displays images with edge-to-edge consistency with minimal color shifting. Further supporting this new IPS panel is a power-efficient RGB LED backlight optimized for the LCD panel's color filter. This helps achieve high quality color reproduction with high brightness and the DP-V2410 panel also features an anti-glare surface for reflection-reduced image display.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display supports the next-generation standard of ITU-R BT.2020, and ACESproxy (ACES 1.0) the transmission standards of ACES whose color management standard is advocated by AMPAS, as well as the DCI-P3 digital cinema standard, ITU-R BT.709, EBU, and SMPTE-C broadcast standards. The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display's advanced gamut mapping technology support ITU-R BT.2020 to optimally display color data outside of the native panel color gamut.
The reference display also supports ITU-R BT.2020 color matrix (constant luminance) by converting consistent luminance YUV signals to linear signals and then converting them to RGB signals and, finally, adding gamma. This process allows the monitoring of images recorded with constant luminance.
The ultimate goal is to reproduce the same amount of luminance on the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display as was captured on-scene, giving the viewer the same feel as if they were present on the set at the time of image capture.
The high contrast IPS LCD panel in combination with advanced digital processing empowers the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display to achieve a 2000:1 contrast ratio. This helps faithfully reproduce important shadow details while simultaneously reproducing highlight information. Tonal reproduction over the nominally exposed range of the image is outstanding. This high-contrast accuracy is essential for critical assessment of images during nighttime shoots and other low-light scenes that are important factors in digital cinema production.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display supports the ability to display High Dynamic Range (HDR) footage captured by Canon's proprietary Canon Log and Canon Log 2, which helps maximize retention of the original coloring and brightness of the recorded subjects and HDR EOTF recommended by the SMPTE ST 2084 standard. The HDR display function allows users to view and confirm the subtle details of underexposed and overexposed areas of displayed images and to compare SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) images with HDR images.
For example, in scenes containing light areas and dark areas such as a dark room and bright sun peeking through the window, areas in between are scarcely recognizable in a SDR monitor due to the loss of dark detail and overexposure. Take a look at the image below notice the loss in detail when viewing through the window. An SDR monitor has difficulty supporting the corresponding details of the original data. Even in dark scenes gradation is more visible with HDR.
The DP-V2410 gives the user the ability to monitor images with high contrast from the very dark areas to the bright areas and rich-mid tones of HDR content. Users can check how SDR and HDR images compare with the ability to verify the final image quality at the shooting location ? helping to maximize efficiency in video production.
Images are simulated
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display has an array of image functions that give users the ability to control and modify the display's features and customize the overall look. They include:
This function allows the display's contrast range to increase from 0-1500 when off, and then from 1500-4000 when turned on.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference's Backlight Scanning uses a full array RGB backlight, allowing individual backlight areas to be partially turned off includes three adjustment choices (high, low, and off). This feature helps reduce the image-hold period inherent to LED technology while images are being displayed, and results in crisp video playback, reducing the perception of blurring between video frames. It also enhances static image contrast ratio.
The majority of cinema and commercial production work still use HD and 2K video. The DP-V2410 display is equipped with three types of screen scaling functions, including the Canon Shape Tracing technology ? an original shape-tracing technology that helps to minimize artifacts on images scaled on the DP-V2410. Using the Canon Shape Tracing technology, the DP-V2410 display detects the angles of hard edges and selects an appropriate interpolation to help provide smooth diagonal lines and optimal image rendering, further extending the display's application during location/studio shoots and within color-grading, DI, CGI, VFX and other post-production workflows.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display can perform 4K RAW format image debayering internally*, without the need for any external debayering equipment. This enables a 4K production-monitoring environment to be set-up with minimal wiring connections and ? as a result ? greater mobility for the EOS C500/C500PL and EOS C300 Mark II digital cinema cameras. It is also possible to use a recorder that does not include a debayering function by passing the signals straight through the DP-V2410 display to the recorder.
*Internal 4K RAW format image debayering currently works only with the EOS C500 and EOS C300 Mark II Digital Cinema Cameras.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display supports the latest ACES2065-1, which is becoming widely adopted in production, post-production and archiving workflows.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is capable of providing RAW format image de-bayering and ACES Input Transform, enabling the reference display to transfer RAW format images to the ACES2065-1 images. These images can be displayed by adjusting the exposure and colors using CDL's (color decision lists) and by performing ACES Output Transform processing. In addition, by sharing the CDL data using a USB connection, the signals output by on-the-set grading and editing set-ups have the same colors and gradations, so the "look" intended at the shooting and/or editing location can be maintained throughout the postproduction workflow.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display also can be used with any source input that complies with ACESproxy.
Some 4K reference displays require a third party de-bayering unit between the camera and the display, and therefore require additional cables. Using 3G-SDI and HDMI connectors, the DP-V2410 reference display is capable of building a 4K environment with much less wiring. As a result, users can route cables just as they would the full-HD equipment they are accustomed to using, making it easier to set up equipment at the shooting location- reducing the hassles that can be experienced with 4K connections.
When displaying 4K/30p content on the DP-V3010, 4K RAW format image de-bayering cannot be done without a third party de-bayering unit between the camera and the display, and therefore require additional cables.
When the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is connected to either an EOS C500 or EOS C300 Mark II digital cinema camera, the 4K RAW format image de-bayering process occurs in the reference display. There is no need for a 3rd party de-bayering unit. This allows you to display 4K/30p content with a single 3G-SDI cable, and 4K/60p content with only two 3G-SDI cables.
Additionally, the DP-V2410 can display 4K/60p content from any 4K camera with a single HDMI cable- provided that camera supports 4K/60p output connection.
The EOS C500 and EOS C300 Mark II digital cinema cameras can be directly connected to the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display, enabling the Display to act as a 24-inch program display that can be seen by multiple people and used (in place of the camera’s viewfinder) to check focus, angle of view, and other picture attributes. In addition, a range of on-screen display functions provide convenient Shooting Assistance Tools. These direct integration features include:
Camera Information Display
This allows for the camera’s metadata information to be viewed when the 3G-SDI RAW format has been selected. Types of metadata that can be displayed include color temperature, f-value, ISO speed, shutter speed, gamma, color gamut, resolution, frame rate, I/P/PsF and camera status (shooting or playback).
Camera Image Quality Link-Up
This function automatically switches the image quality of the display based on the camera’s metadata when the 3G-SDI RAW and Canon Log mode are established. This Link-Up function can be used to link color temperature, gamma and color gamut information. Canon has also made it possible for users to select “Cinema Gamut to 709” or “Cinema Gamut to DCI-P3” as the display’s color gamut when “DCI-P3+” or “Cinema Gamut” (supported by the Cinema EOS System camera) has been set. The image Link-Up function ultimately helps reduce user error. If a quality setting changes on the camera, the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display will automatically make the adjustments accordingly.

4K Waveform Monitor and Vector Scope
These are superimposed on the screen display. The signal level is displayed using the waveform monitor function (six types: Y, Cr, Cb, R, G, and B). The two color-difference signals (Cb and Cr) are each displayed with “X axis/Y axis” when the vector scope function is engaged.
Any area of the screen can be selected and enlarged. Magnifying a portion of the picture can make the focusing process easier to accomplish.
This assists in setting the camera?s exposure by displaying the input image using colors that differ according to their luminance level. For example, over exposure (above 100% luminance level) is indicated in red and loss of dark detail (under 0% luminance level) is indicated in blue.
Audio Level Meter
This provides a clear, instant visual representation of how loud the sound is being picked up by the camera’s microphone(s). (The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display also includes a stereo mini-jack for headphones.)
This function saves the currently displayed image as an image file in a USB memory, such as “thumb drive.” Users can choose whether to capture only the video image or also include the marker, waveform monitor, and other image auxiliary functions and OSD menus as well.
This function freezes the image to be checked and displays it on the screen. It can also be used to capture the image shown on the screen as a photo.
Area markers in rectangle size, position, etc., can be set using this function. They are used for checking the areas where the subtitles and duration of TV broadcasts are to be indicated. Also incorporated are functions for displaying safety zone markers, center markers, and grid markers.
When images are to be displayed, users can select white, gray, or black as the color of the black bands in the image non-display areas, which are displayed due to the differences in the view angle. This function is used to check the image quality at the boundaries of the image display and non-display areas.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display features a mode in which the display’s internal fan is shut down for a prescribed period of time during camera shooting. This mode can be linked with professional-use cameras such as the Canon Cinema EOS cameras. It is useful when the noise of this normally quiet fan might disturb an especially noise-sensitive atmosphere of a studio or other quiet shooting location.
In order to maintain consistent high image quality the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display utilizes built-in auto-correct functions that consistently monitor color, brightness, and other parameters that keep the display at a high level of uniformity at all times. These functions include:
Precise Color Adjustment Prior to Shipment
In order to achieve high color uniformity, each DP-V2410 4K Reference Display undergoes a high-precision calibration process before shipping from the factory. External calibration allows users to maintain factory settings as well as make adjustments for specific display applications.
Automatic Color and Brightness Correction System
A special control system within the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display constantly measures ambient lighting conditions, as well as internal display changes - including color temperature and brightness - to help reduce fluctuations in light levels and color, thereby helping to ensure long-term image stability and consistency.
Calibration Without a PC
Following high-precision factory alignment, the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display can be calibrated easily and conveniently without the need for an external PC workstation. Using third-party external sensors, users can calibrate the display in accordance with viewing environment and application.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display supports direct importing of both 1D and 3D Look-up Tables (LUTs) for accurate and consistent color matching between individual displays, as well as using customized 'looks' that have been created by third-party color-grading applications Multiple LUTS can be setup per picture mode giving users the ability to rapidly compare up to 8 different LUT's without having to change the picture mode.
The OSD (on-screen display) menu and control layout of the DP-V2410 is designed to deliver clear, unambiguous, at-a-glance communication of visual information. It is the same proven OSD as that used for the Canon DP-V3010 4K Reference Display. Users can also change OSP positions according to the resolution of images displayed.
The buttons and jog dial, located on the front panel of the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display, are laid out in the same positions as they are on the CL-01 display controller of the DP-V3010 4K Reference Display. The labels and buttons are illuminated to enable operation in dark areas.
Functions can also be registered to the function buttons in accordance with the intended applications. The frequently used functions can be called and used right away just by touching a button.
Between the two variants in 4K and the ability to upscale either 2K or HD, and further compounded with many frame rates, there is a broad choice in signal inputs to the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display.

Improved Equipment Linkage with Cinema EOS Cameras
4K RAW DeBayer Support
You can now perform DeBayer processing of 4K RAW video shot by an EOS C700 or EOS C700 GS PL, and show the results on the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display. Output through a single 3G-SDI cable is possible when the frame rate is below 30P, or through two 3G-SDI cables when the frame rate is at or above 30P.
This eliminates the need for external DeBayer equipment, and reduces complicated wiring schemes of the camera and display, ultimately increasing mobility when shooting on set
Metadata Linkage Support
When a DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is connected to an EOS C700, EOS C700 GS PL or EOS C300 Mark II, you can now obtain and display the camera's meta information*.
The ability to now see the camera metadata information on the display side, in addition to on the camera viewfinder, allows more than one person to participate in tasks such as preparing the camera at the filming location and checking the camera information during shooting, improving convenience. Camera confirmation can also be confirmed onsite or near site with this function.

Camera Quality Sync
When the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is connected to an EOS C700, EOS C700 GS PL or EOS C300 Mark II, image quality settings on the camera and display are automatically synced. This feature helps ensure minimal error by syncing camera setting in real time. For example, if the camera picture mode is set to "Cinema EOS System", the display quality switches automatically based on the meta information. Furthermore, by setting “Automatic Adjustment” to “On”, you can select whether to sync other settings such as “Color Temperature”, “Gamma”, or “Color Gamut”.
The information that can be viewed includes color gamut, gamma, ISO, color temperature, F value, resolution, shutter speed, frame rate, anamorphic, camera state (recording vs. playback).
Anamorphic Lens Support
Video taken with an anamorphic lens* to obtain a special visual expression can now be “de-squeezed” and displayed on the DP-V2410 4K Reference in its original aspect ratio. This allows for quality checks to be confirmed without compression – allowing the user to review actual capture during filming.
*A lens with a special oblong rear lens element that compresses wide-screen width video, shrinking it to about half size.
Additional HDR-compatible LUT Preset
For an ARRI camera’s Log C signal and general Log signal in broadcast, the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display is now preset with an HDR-compatible LUT for displaying HDR images captured with an ARRI camera. You can check the quality of the HDR video just by connecting a camera, without the hassle of importing a special LUT.

ITU-R BT.2100 ICtCp Format Support
The ICtCp format was added to the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display’s supported signal formats. ICtCp is a new format from Dolby Corporation aimed at reducing color reproduction errors. By inputting a signal in the new format ICtCp to the display, you can display SMPTE ST 2084(PQ)/Hybrid Log-Gamma video precisely to specification.
Dual-screen Display Function (4K Input Support)
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display already supports left-right split-screen display for comparing HDR/SDR by conventional 2K/HD video. This firmware update now supports split-screen display function for 4K video inputs.
It is now possible to display normal 4K/2K video input on the left side of the screen, and HDR support functions (peaking, false color, monochrome, display of areas outside of BT.709 color gamut, etc.) on the right side of the screen. It is also possible to display a compressed brightness range on the left side of the screen, and a clipped brightness range on the right side of the screen.
Additional functionality also includes:
- Video can be split in halves during 4K/2K video display to show a different image quality on the left and right sides
- 4K Video can be split on left and right sides, showing different image quality on each side. For example: HDR (left side) vs SDR (right side)
- Improved usability of function to display 2K video on two screens, showing a different image quality on the left screen and right screen
Comparing video by displaying them simultaneously on the left and right gives the user a great advantage when shooting. This function allows the user, to see at a glance, the brightness ranges, exact tones, and differences in brightness - improving efficiency during HDR filming.
False Color Function (HDR Display Support)
In addition to traditional false color feature, you can now display colors on the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display that vary according to the brightness of the SMPTE ST 2084 (PQ) and Hybrid Log-Gamma input signals. In addition, you can check the brightness level more visually since the colored areas are displayed with a gradient.
This function utilizes the specific HDR ranges that are used with SMPTE ST 2084 (PQ) and Hybrid Log-Gamma to make it easier to visualize the exposure state in HDR shooting, for example by displaying the areas in the HDR range or greater in red and the areas in the SDR range in blue. The width of the red portion of the scale changes depending on how the HDR range is set.
Function to Display Area Outside of the BT.709 Color Gamut
Now when “Color gamut: BT.2020” is set on the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display, it is possible to see colors that cannot be reproduced in the BT.709 color gamut by having them appear red. (The other areas are shown in monochrome.) This makes it possible to visually identify colors that cannot be shown when video captured in the BT.2020 and is viewed in BT.709.
HDR-Compatible 4K Waveform Monitor
The waveform monitor on the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display has been enhanced to utilize specific ranges defined by the scale types of ST 2084 (Full), ST 2084 (Limited) and Hybrid Log-Gamma.
HDMI HDR Signal Support
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display now supports HDMI HDR signals. This lets you display metadata information on the screen about the contents (color gamut, gamma, maximum brightness, average brightness maximum value) from video editing PCs, Blu-ray players, and cameras that support HDMI2.0a. This helps you carry out proper HDR production by letting you monitor the video while checking the HDR information.
Added “SDI Full” Color Range Setting
In addition to Full and Limited color range settings, an SDI Full color range setting has been added to the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display. The SDI Full color range setting has a black level of 4, a white level of 1019 and 10-bit color depth.

ANNOUNCING FIRMWARE UPDATES TO CANON 4K REFERENCE DISPLAYS
Learn about some exciting new firmware updates to Canon's DP-V2410 and DP-V3010 4K Reference Displays. These products are among many being showcased at NAB 2016. The firmware update supports a number of feature updates and really extend the functionality of your Canon product.
The Academy qualified the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display for ACES2065-1. The Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) is becoming the industry standard for managing color throughout the life cycle of a motion picture or television production.
This display supports the newly announced Canon Log 3 Gamma, when used with our EOS C300 Mark II Digital Cinema Camera. Canon Log 3 achieves a dynamic range of 1600% with 14 stops of dynamic range, and can be ideal for middle end users that have a limited budget for post-production, and need quick turnaround.
The display also supports the newest standard for HDR - Hybrid Log-Gamma, which was developed by the NHK and BBC broadcast organizations.
Arri Log C is now natively supported, and metadata from Arri cameras is parsed, and can be shown on the display. A new camera link-up function automatically switches the image quality of the display based on the camera’s metadata. If an image quality setting changes on the camera, the DP-V2410 4K Reference Display will automatically change to match the camera.
The DP-V2410 4K Reference Display can now show two images side by side. You can select different functions for either image, such as Log on one, LUT on the other; or Peaking on one but not the other.
Zoom presets 1~3 mode can preset magnification up to 2x, and position up to 5 points.
The built-in 4K waveform monitor is now optimized for HDR with support for Canon Log, Canon Log 2, Canon Log 3, and SMPTE ST 2084. Contrast of the display has also been improved.
