A compact and lightweight full-frame camera that packs advanced, high-end performance and In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) into a highly portable design.

Geared toward aspiring photographers and enthusiasts, the EOS R8 Mark II features a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS image sensor that delivers rich tones, natural bokeh, and high-ISO performance with low digital noise. Its premium, modern flat-surface design breaks from recent curved models to touch upon the heritage of the days of more angular bodies like the Canon T80, F-1 and A-1 cameras offering ergonomic comfort in a travel-ready body. The EOS R8 Mark II stands out as the lightest camera in the EOS lineup to feature In-Body Image StabilizationFootnote1 (IBIS), providing up to 7.5 stopsFootnote2 of coordinated shake correction at the center so you can shoot sharp, steady images even while on the go.

Beyond stunning stills, the EOS R8 Mark II provides everything a hybrid photographer would need, offering breathtaking 6K-oversampled UHD 4K video at 60p and Full HD video at up to 180p. You can effortlessly capture fast-moving action with advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, which features automatic detection for people, animals, and vehiclesFootnote3, alongside a highly precise Register People Priority function. To ensure you never miss a fleeting moment, the camera boasts a blazing-fast electronic shutter capable of up to 40 frames per second, complete with a pre-continuous shooting feature that captures up to 20 shots a half-second before you even fully press the shutter.

Combined with the compact 24-50mm zoom lens, the EOS R8 Mark II kit emphasizes portability and ease of handling in a richly-featured full-frame mirrorless camera. This lens is an ideal companion for travel, landscapes, interiors and video, with its broad coverage from wide-angle through normal zoom range. The 24mm wide-angle setting, in particular, puts the power of ultra-wide imagery in your hands. Coordinated Image Stabilization — leveraging the camera’s in-body Image Stabilization with optical stabilization in this lens — opens up possibilities even in dimly-lit or night scenes. A lens that doesn’t weigh you down is an invitation to carry your camera everywhere, making the EOS R8 Mark II kit the lightweight and practical answer to take your still images and video to the next level.

Register your own signature 17-grid, or 33-grid .cube format 3D LUT files created using an NLE application, or download a variety of options from Canon using the below links, then register them in-camera as Custom Picture (CP) Look files to apply the color tone and contrast you want for the movies you record. Person Holding a Camera with an Attached Battery Grip

Get a Grip

The optional EG-E2 Extension Grip is a compatible accessory designed for the EOS R8 Mark II that significantly improves handling, particularly for those that want a larger overall body when working with larger lenses. It gives your pinky finger a secure place to rest to ensure a firm, steady grip on the camera. Its thoughtful design attaches and detaches easily with the simple turn of its dial, features an integrated tripod socket, and allows you to swap batteries without needing to remove the EG-E2 Extension Grip or remove the camera’s battery compartment cover.

Making Connections

The camera features robust wireless communication capabilities, supporting dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) equivalent to IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards. This enables rapid image transfers, seamless remote camera control, and live streaming directly through the free Canon Camera Connect app. Additionally, Wi-Fi support allows the camera to integrate with Canon Live Switcher Mobile, turning it into a versatile video source for multi-camera live switching setups.

For close-range connectivity, the device is compliant with Bluetooth Specification Version 5.3 (Bluetooth Low Energy), allowing you to pair with up to 10 smartphones as well as a wireless remote control, such as the BR-E1 or BR-E2. Bluetooth communication remains active even when the physical power switch is turned off or during auto power off, maintaining a continuous connection with your smartphone for low-power reconnects and remote waking.

Dual Pixel 3D Converter

Dual Pixel 3D Converter is a new software coming in October for compatible EOS R-series cameras like the EOS R8 Mark II, and allows users to quickly convert a single 2D photo into a realistic 3D model or video using depth data from the camera’s image sensor instead of complex scanning equipment.

People Posing In Front of a Camera Setup

SDK

Canon allows developers to remotely adjust camera settings, capture images, and stream Live View using either the EDSDK for tethered, high-speed USB connections on desktop platforms or the CCAPI for platform-agnostic, wireless HTTP/RESTful control over Wi-Fi.
