By changing the relationship between aperture value (F value) and shutter speed, a photographer is able to intentionally create various visual effects. For example, by manipulating the depth of field, it is possible to make the background blurry (out of focus), thus emphasizing the subject with vivid sharpness. You can also make a moving subject appear to be standing still, or depict the motion with a slight blur.
