ALBUM LIFE
ChromaLife 100 inks and paper produce beautiful photos to last a lifetime.
ChromaLife 100 is a technology comprised of Canon’s FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print heads, as well as select genuine Canon inks and photo paper. It is important to note that all photographs will fade over time; however, light, heat, humidity and environmental gases such as ozone (O3), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfur oxide (SOx) are some of the real-world factors that can accelerate the rate at which a photo will fade. ChromaLife 100 inks and paper are designed to help withstand common, everyday conditions that can cause a photo to fade.
ChromaLife 100 depends on the following three components
FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print heads are made with a micro-manufacturing process that allows for high-density, smaller diameter and precisely-aligned nozzles. ChromaLife 100’s dye-based inks are printed using Canon’s FINE print heads, providing exceptional detail and vibrant colors.
Fine Print Head
ChromaLife 100 inks are printed using Canon’s FINE print heads, which are made to allow for high-density, smaller diameter and precisely-aligned nozzles.
Fine Print Head
ChromaLife 100 technology is available with select genuine Canon dye-based inks, such as CLI-36, CL-241 and CLI 271 ink tanks.
Select Genuine Canon Paper
ChromaLife 100 technology is available with semi-gloss, glossy and super-high gloss finishes. These papers feature high-speed ink absorption for fast dry times and are resistant to color fading caused by humidity. See specific claims for compatible papers.

Genuine Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum, Photo Paper Plus Glossy II and Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss, when used with genuine Canon ChromaLife 100 inks and Canon’s FINE print head technology, may achieve up to 100 years of album life* (when photos are kept in dark storage sites such as under a plastic cover sleeve in archival-quality photo albums, not exposed to light and in a controlled temperature/humidity environment).
ESTIMATION OF PRINT LONGEVITY
Estimates for image permanence are made using the Wilhelm Imaging Research, Inc. endpoint criteria: Accumulated illuminance causes a monochromatic/reflective optical density loss of 20-35% (figures set respectively for each color, starting density of 1.0). Accumulated illuminance causes a difference in color balance of yellow, magenta and cyan (each component in composite black) of 12-18%.
CRITERIA FOR ESTIMATION
Each image permanence data of album life, as well as light and gas fastness, are estimated based on each test of Indoor Thermal Stability, Indoor Light Stability and Indoor Ozone Stability, which are set as the “Digital Color Photo Print Stability Evaluation” (JEITA CP-3901) standard issued by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association).
