Canon U.S.A., Inc. Celebrates Employee Recognition Day with Focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Engagement

MELVILLE, NY, May 6, 2025 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leading provider of digital imaging solutions, recently hosted an Employee Recognition Day at its Melville headquarters. The event highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation, employee empowerment, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As part of its ongoing efforts to celebrate the invaluable contributions of its employees, Canon showcased its latest advancements while emphasizing the importance of community engagement and sustainable practices.

“Our employees are the cornerstone of Canon’s success and our greatest asset, we are proud to celebrate their contributions,” said Isao “Sammy” Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Supporting organizations that are doing incredible work in our communities helps us extend the power of imaging to empower, uplift, and inspire. Canon U.S.A. is grateful to all of our community partners who attended the Employee Recognition event.”

Employee Recognition Day served as an opportunity to acknowledge the significant impact Canon’s employees have had on the company’s success, build camaraderie among staff and raise awareness of opportunities for employees to help support the many CSR initiatives Canon invests in through its partnerships with local, regional and national advocacy organizations. In addition, several of Canon’s key CSR partners were in attendance to present information about Canon’s involvement and dedication to community and environmental empowerment.

Among those in attendance were representatives of local educational advocacy initiatives including the Japan Center at Stony Brook University, with whom Canon is proudly celebrating its 20th anniversary as a sponsor of the Japan Center Essay Competition, as well as from the NCF-Envirothon, an international environmental education program for high school students that Canon proudly supports. Canon’s ongoing sponsorship underscores its commitment to investing in sustainability, youth leadership and inspiring the next generation of global stewards.

Canon welcomed representatives from health focused organizations, including the American Cancer Society. For over two decades, Canon has been the flagship sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, underscoring its commitment to advancing cancer research and supporting cancer patients. A representative from Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s Seacrest Studios shared how Canon’s support helps provide young patients with enriching, therapeutic experiences through the hospital’s in-house media center.

"Canon has been an extraordinary partner to the American Cancer Society for more than 20 years," said Katie Goepfrich Schafer, Executive Director, Long Island, American Cancer Society. "Their continued support has not only helped raise critical funds for breast cancer research and patient services, but it has also brought our mission into the heart of the workplace. Events like Employee Recognition Day reflect the values that make our partnership so meaningful — a shared dedication to hope, resilience, and community impact."

Canon was also honored to welcome representatives from the American Red Cross to Employee Recognition Day, where they shared firsthand how the relief funds are being deployed and how Canon’s contribution is making a real difference. Their stories underscored the power of corporate philanthropy and partnership during times of great need.

Further, Canon’s commitment to fighting food insecurity and promoting environmental conservation was represented by Island Harvest Food Bank. Their representative spoke about volunteer opportunities, including Canon’s annual food drive each November. Canon’s Environmental Group encouraged employees to participate in the company’s recycling initiatives and the upcoming Clean Earth Crew volunteer event.

During the morning, employees enjoyed the Canon Technology Showcase, which featured the company’s latest innovations. Employees also participated in a company-wide meeting with updates from executive leadership. Attendees also enjoyed a complimentary lunch in the cafeteria and courtyard and participated in the newly introduced “Employee Appreciation Hour,” which included refreshments, lawn games, and time to socialize with colleagues.

Canon’s Employee Recognition Day is a meaningful reminder that innovation, community, and purpose are interconnected—and that the spirit of Canon’s Kyosei philosophy lives on through both its employees and its partnerships.
