Firmware Notice: PIXMA TS series and TR series printers: printer may not turn off

Thank you for using Canon products.


When the printer is connected to a computer via USB, and the computer is powered off, in rare instances the printer may not turn off when the printer’s power button is pressed.

If the printer is left in that condition for a long period of time, the temperature of the printer’s internal motor may rise, though it poses no safety hazard.

How to Check the Firmware Version of the Printer

The firmware version can be checked on the printer operation panel, or it is provided on the printout of the Nozzle Check Pattern.

Please refer to the Online Manual of the applicable printer for the procedures.

Temporary Solution

If the printer cannot be turned off, please perform the following steps:

  1. Unplug the printer power cord.
  2. Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  3. Power on the printer.

If you smell a strange odor, ventilation is recommended.

Permanent Solution

Update the printer’s firmware to the version listed below.

For WiFi connected printers, access the Firmware update through the printer’s LCD screen. For USB connected printers, download and install the Firmware from the links below.
