As part of Canon’s University Education Program, award-winning Director of Photography and Cinematographer Claudia Raschke visited Indiana University. During her visit, Claudia held several workshops. During her lighting workshop, she showed the students her techniques for setting up a scene and lighting a room. During her Verité workshop, she taught them how to see in 360° and rely on their instincts to follow a story. She also held one-on-one critiques with the students giving them a new perspective on their projects. The students were also able to get hands-on with Canon cinema cameras and lenses such as the EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C70, EOS R5 C, multiple sets of cine primes and COMPACT-SERVO 18-80mm T4.4 EF zoom lenses.

Claudia Raschke
Capturing the big and the small moments of the amazing world we live in feeds my passion for the art of cinematography. Equally important is that I bear witness to and document the unique stories that unfold before my eyes in a way that dismantles barriers, opens doors, and reveals truth. I believe that filming intuitively, honestly and without inhibition is a journey that requires a compassionate heart and the ability to see and hear what lies beneath the surface.” —Claudia Raschke
Claudia Raschke was born in Hamburg, one of the largest European ports near the Baltic Sea in Northern Germany. Throughout her childhood the chain of movie theaters owned by her mother brought Claudia into the world of film. After college Claudia studied the art and technique of cinematography on the practical level while working with some of the most prominent and accomplished international filmmakers. Today she lives in New York City and is a founding member of the NYC Kamera Kollektiv, a boutique agency for documentary cinematographers and a member of AMPAS.
Among her many notable award-winning films are: Oscar-nominated and Emmy winning RBG (Magnolia/ Participant/ CNN), Oscar short-listed JULIA (CNN / Imagine Entertainment/ Sony Classic), Critics Choice nominated FAUCI (NAT GEO/ Magnolia/ Disney+), Peabody winning and NAACP Image Award nominated MY NAME IS PAULI MURRAY (Amazon Studios/Participant Media), Oscar short-listed and Emmy winning BOYS STATE (A24), Oscar-nominated GOD IS THE BIGGER ELVIS (HBO), Oscar short-listed MAD HOT BALLROOM (Paramount), and Critics Choice Award Nominee THE HOUSE OF HAMMER (Discovery)
